Race 4

Two 3yr old and one 4yr old filly could dominate the finish to this race and complete the trifecta. All three have wide draws to deal with, but none worse than JEANNE D’ARC who is stuck out the widest of them all in gate twelve. She followed up her penultimate run maiden race victory over seven furlongs with a fifth place finish over a mile next time out, 6.1L behind the winner, but she was bumped at the start that day and clearly that had some bearing on her performance. The form of that race has however been franked. She returns from a 17 week rest, but did finish third in her only barrier trial to prove her fitness. FIRE DRAGON tried to go from jump to wire before ending up second in her last start over 1280M when returning from a 25 week break. She was only collared late that day and as she is drawn one inside the top choice, she is likely to use that early gate speed in an attempt to adopt similar tactics today. ZOULY is only slightly better drawn in gate nine and she too won her maiden race by just over two lengths last time out, but in her case, over six furlongs. She hit the front at the 200M mark that day and then fought off the chasing pack over the closing stages. She did finish fourth in a subsequent barrier trial and should be included in all bets.

Race 5
CARLISLE BAY finished fifth on debut over six furlongs, but then showed the expected improvement second time out when ending up in second place over 1100M, just under a length behind the winner. He stayed on well over the latter stages, suggesting that the extra ground will be to his liking. He will have to negotiate draw ten, but he nevertheless looks to be the one to side with here. Although EYES OF DUBAI is recorded as finishing eleventh last time out over 1500M, he was just over four and a half lengths adrift of the winner, this despite being checked at the 1000M pole. He has a far kinder draw three and could emerge as the biggest threat to the top pick. READ ALL ABOUT IT was trapped three wide when finishing seventh last time out over seven furlongs, just over six and a half lengths back from the winner. He will have the blinkers removed for today’s run and if this move has the desired effect, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

Race 6

Today’s value bet, ZETA’S ROCKET did finish a disappointing tenth last time out over five furlongs in heavy going, just under nine lengths behind the winner, but three runners from that race have subsequently come out and won, so perhaps that effort is not quite as bad as it first appears. It should also be noted that the form of his penultimate outing over today’s sprint trip has also been franked. NO IMPEDIMENT was trapped very wide in the second half of his latest outing over five furlongs and then came the widest into the home straight before finishing up in third place, just a length adrift of the winner. He will have to overcome draw thirteen out of fourteen, but with a bit of luck in running, he should be right up there in the mix. ALFSTAR showed marked improvement when finishing seventh in his last outing over five furlongs, only two lengths back from the winner. He stayed on well that day and although having a wideish draw nine, he should not be lightly dismissed in this line-up.

Race 7

LOVELAND has only had the one run and that was over six furlongs. Although finishing sixth, she was just one and a half lengths behind the winner and was immediately rested for 21 weeks. She returns here after two encouraging barrier trials, but it should be noted that no less than eight runners from that race have come out subsequently to shed their maiden tag. She has cracked pole position and will get the services of ex-SA jockey Keegan Latham, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle. KUNG FU MUSHU overraced in the early stages before not getting the clearest of runs in the home straight to finish seventh in her latest start over a mile, three lengths behind the winner. She faces gate eight, but could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice. TWICE ON SUNDAY is seldom far off the action and finished fourth last time out over six furlongs, just under two and a half lengths back from the winner. She was only reeled in over the latter stages of that contest and from draw five, she is likely to turn in another honest performance today.
