Race 5

KEY LARGO has posted two solid last runs, finishing second in the latest over this sprint trip, beaten just a head. He was returning from a 26-week break that day and overraced in the early and middle stages, before having to be checked off the heels of other runners at the 250M mark, but he nevertheless finished off his race well. From his handy gate two, he is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

CONSCRIPT goes for his hat-trick after two victories over six furlongs, the latest by a short-head. He hung out and bumped another runner in the straight, but still battled all the way down to the wire. He has cracked pole position and will have 3kgs taken off his back to aid his cause.

OCEAN EMPEROR is a speedy sort who finished fourth in his latest outing over this c&d, just under five and a half lengths back from the winner and the form of that race has been franked. He jumps from a wideish draw seven, but should use his early gate speed to shift across without expending too much energy.

Race 6

MISS EINSTEIN is a 6yr old mare taking on the boys, but she has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three runs, the latest when second over six furlongs, just a neck behind the victor. She jumped awkwardly that day and found herself at the back of the field, but made good late progress over the closing stages. She has pulled pole position and will be hoping to go one better today.

HEZA GENTLEMAN has his hat-trick run after two wins over 1500M, the latest when putting 3.3L between himself and the opposition. He jumped awkwardly in that contest but hit the front at the 200M pole to win going away. The gelding gets gate five and will have 3kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice.

BANGER stayed on well when finishing second last time out over seven furlongs, three lengths off the winner. He jumps from draw seven and will have the blinkers re-fitted of today’s race. If this move has the desired result, he should be a big runner in the line-up.

Race 7

This looks to be a tricky F&M Handicap with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. The tentative top choice goes to MISS JAY FOX who is seldom far off the action, finishing fourth last time out over five furlongs, just under two and a half lengths back from the winner when returning from an 18-week rest. From draw two, she should turn in another honest performance here.

TELLURIDE followed up her penultimate run victory over five furlongs with a disappointing eleventh place finish last time out over this distance, seven and a half lengths adrift of the winner, but she did jump awkwardly and was found to be lame, so that effort is best ignored. She was immediately rested for 43 weeks and returns here having had three barrier trials, finishing fourth in the latest. The fact that her connections have brought her back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believe that she still has something more to offer them.

FORZANINI is drawn one inside the latter and has won two of her last three runs, the latest over 1100M by a short-head. She kicked clear at the 200M mark and then held off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire.

Race 8

MIRACLE DAY goes for his trio of victories after being successful over five furlongs and the latest over six furlongs by 3.3L. He came three-wide into the home straight that day, but then put the race to bed when striking the front at the 250M mark to win easing down at the wire. He has a cozy gate four and has his peak run after returning from a 22-week rest and as such, he is made the best bet on the day’s program.

NIKAU is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she has consistent formlines to her name, finishing second in her latest outing over a mile, getting collared in the shadow of the post to be denied victory by a short-head. She returns from an 18-week break, but has had the benefit of two barrier trials, finishing third in the latest. She faces a wide draw ten out of sixteen, but she should give the boys a good run for their money.

PEREGRINATION overraced in the early stages before ending up in sixth spot last time out over six furlongs, 4L lengths behind the winner when returning from a 12-week rest. From his kinder draw two and with having 3kgs taken off his back for the services of his claiming apprentice, he should be involved in the finish.
