Race 7.

SOUTHERN LAD jumped awkwardly and found himself towards the back of the field before staying on well when missing out on his hat-trick last time out over six furlongs, 8.3L behind the winner, but the form of that race has been franked. He has cracked pole position and will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways today. ELEVEN ELEVEN had his consistency rewarded with a neck win last time out over five furlongs. He has his peak run here and jumps from a wideish gate nine, but gets the services of ex-SA jockey Keagan Latham, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle. SNAPDANCER is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys and was a tad disappointing when stepping up to seven furlongs last time out, finishing nineth, 4.8L behind the winner and was immediately rested for 41 weeks. She returns here after having had the three barrier trials, finishing second in the latest. She jumps from gate five and the fact that her connections have brought her back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believe that she still has something more to offer them.

Race 8.

ELLSBERG hit the front at the 250M mark and then held off the chasing pack to secure a 1.3L victory last time out over 1500M. He faces a wideish draw nine, but a repeat of that last effort could see him chalk up a quick double. STEELY has won three of his last four starts, so clearly has some ability, the latest over this distance by 0.8L. He raced just behind the leaders that day and then kicked clear at the 200M pole. He has his peak run after returning from a 15 week break and gets a handy gate four. The gelding could emerge as the biggest threat to the top choice. BANDERSNATCH overraced in the middle section before ending up in third place last time out over 1500M, 3.3L back from the winner. He made good late progress in that contest and from pole position, he should be included in all bets.

Race 9.

MUBARIZ jumped awkwardly and was hampered shortly after the start and found himself at the rear of the field and then came the widest of them all into the home straight before finishing fifth in his latest outing over 1500M, four lengths adrift of the victor. He was returning from a 12 week rest that day, but from draw five and with having 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice, he is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card. LACKEEN is drawn one inside the top pick and followed up his penultimate run victory over seven furlongs with a fifth spot finish last time out over a mile, just over two and a half lengths behind the winner, but he was slightly hampered at the 600M mark when racing in tight quarters. He has his peak run since returning from a 17 week rest and should be right up there when they hit the line. EQUATION is seldom far off the action and was bumped at the start before ending up in second place last time out over a mile, 0.8L off the winner. He was friendless in the betting markets that day, but if able to repeat that last effort, he should not be lightly dismissed in this line-up.

Race 10.

The day’s best bet, BROOKSPIRE is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she has consistent formlines to her name and won over this trip three runs back and then had nothing go her way when second over 1300M last time out, one and a half lengths behind the winner when returning from a 11 week rest. She was bumped down at the start and then had to be eased off the heels of other runners shortly after the start, before coming four wide into the home stretch, but still managed to battle all the way down to the wire. She has pulled pole position and could prove hard to topple. DYNAMIC IMPACT is in fine form since returning from a 21 week break and goes for his hat-trick after wins over 1300M and the latest over seven furlongs by 0.8L. He came five wide into the straight in that contest, but struck the front at the 250M and then held off all challengers in the dash down to the finishing post. The gelding will have to negotiate gate ten, but he should be doing his best work late. BLESK won his penultimate start over 1300M and then jumped awkwardly and came five wide into the home straight before staying on well to end up in second spot last time out over seven furlongs, just under half a length behind the winner. From his kinder draw five, he should be involved in the finish.
