Race 4

A 4yr old filly and a 5yr old mare could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but SPROUT WINGS is taken to lead the pack home. She has finished second in her last two starts, the latest over this journey, just a head behind the winner. She hit the front at the 200M mark that day and was only snared in the shadow of the post. She jumps from gate six and should turn in another honest performance today.

LA TIGRESA is drawn one outside the top choice and steps up in trip after two encouraging efforts over a mile, the latest when third just over a half-length back from the victor. She came four-wide into the home straight that day but stayed on well over the closing stages.

GENGHIS KHAN did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight but finished well when he eventually saw daylight at the 100M pole, ending up in third place when trying ten furlongs last time out, just over a half-length off the winner. He has cracked pole position, will have his peak run since returning from a lengthy 53-week absence and will also have 4kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice to aid his cause.

Race 5

There are ten unraced runners in the field, so as is always the case in these types of races, a keen eye should be kept on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether any of the connections believe that they can win the first time out. Any betting support for a runner or runners should be respected.

Of the raced runners and as with the previous race, the finish could be dominated by a 4yr and two 3yr old fillies, with the slight preference going to ARIMATHEA who has finished third in her last two outings, the latest over 1100M, 1.2L back from the winner. She showed plenty of toe that day and jumping from draw three and with getting 4kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice, she could be the one to side with here.

ONE POSE has only had the three runs to date and was a tad disappointing when finishing twelfth last time out over five furlongs, 7.7L behind the winner, but she will be looking to bounce back to her better form today. She faces a wide draw fourteen but should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

RUBI AIR on the other hand has pulled pole position. She made good late progress when finishing second last time out over five furlongs, three lengths behind the winner and should be included in all bets.

Race 6

ZANSHIN is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she finished strongly when showing marked improvement to finish a short-head second last time out over this c&d. From her handy draw three, she is made the value bet on the day’s card.

HARALBEN has finished second in his last two starts over this five-furlong sprint, the latest when also being beaten a short-head. He took the lead as the field entered the home stretch and then battled all the way down to the wire. He gets a wideish gate seven, but on the plus side will get 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

ABSOLUTELY FOXY is another 4yr old filly in the race. She raced up with the speed when finishing third in her latest outing over five furlongs, just over two lengths back from the winner and is sure to put her pole position to good use.

Race 7

The day’s best bet, CINQUE TORRI goes for his hat-trick after victories over 1100M and the latest, a one-length win over this c&d. He was green and hung in over the latter stages of that race, which makes the effort that much more encouraging. The colt would have learnt from that experience on this track and from a cosy draw two, he could prove difficult to topple in this line-up.

TEMOIN CHAUD is drawn one outside the top pick and is a 5yr old mare taking on males, but she looked all over a winner before being run out of it very late to finish second last time out over six furlongs, just a neck off the winner. She was returning from a 26-week break that day and should be right up there in the mix.

THE DROVER made solid improvement when finishing third last time out over six furlongs at this course, just a neck behind the winner. He was slow away and then forced wide on the home turn in that contest, so did well to get as close to the victor as he did. He gets draw seven and will have his peak run after returning from a 22-week absence.
