A Dutch connection

Hollywoodbets sponsored pilot Daniel Muscutt today sparks a new weekly bulletin detailing his thoughts for the week ahead and his plans.

One of the horses that have cemented a good season for Newmarket-based Daniel is the progressive WILLEM TWEE, owned by Dutchman Chris Van Hoorn and trained by James Fanshawe.

The colt has graduated under Daniel from breaking his maiden to smoothly taking out back-to-back handicaps, and was particularly impressive at Kempton last time.

WILLEM TWEE looked on good terms with himself in some work with the stable’s smart sprint handicapper Fresh on the Al Bahthri Polytrack facility on Saturday.

Daniel observes of Willem Twee, who is entered for the Group 1 Champions Sprint at Ascot in October: “He’s a really exciting sprinter and has come a long way in a short space of time.

“He’s a good mover who is strengthening up at a rate of knots, and as long as he doesn’t encounter extreme conditions I’m sure he’ll be fine on any ground.

“He has two engagements on Friday and Saturday this week, but I’m not sure what Plan A is at the moment.”

The first of those is The Tin Man Handicap at Haydock, interestingly named after not only legendary jockey Steve Donoghue but also a Group 1 winning sprinter that Fanshawe trained.

Rocketing through France

Prior to this Daniel has a date in France to ride multiple scorer ROCKET RODNEY in a Group 3 at Longchamp on Thursday.

He added: “He’s a very good two-year-old and has never finished out of the first two. And it was pleasing to see the form of his York run boosted when the Paddy Twomey horse that beat me won a Listed race on Saturday.

“He handled ease in the ground on his debut, and is versatile as far as the going is concerned. He’s an absolute pleasure to ride.”
