CURVED LIGHT was unfancied when she ran on strongly for 3rd in a decent field over six furlongs on this track on debut four weeks ago. She finished half a length adrift of the runner-up and subsequent easy winner Pepper Oak that day and would have come on appreciably from the experience. This drop to the minimum distance will suit the daughter of Curved Ball and she merits healthy respect.
Race 5: SABINA’S DYNASTY(1)
Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER – Trainer: Justin SNAITH
The Cape visitor SABINA’S DYNASTY brings very good form into this event but she has proven extremely costly to follow. That said, the Snaith inmate is bred to love this step-up in distance and she should go very close if handling this right-hand turn on her local debut. The likely sedate gallop will play into her hands.

The Greeff yard holds a strong hand in the day’s topliner and riding engagements point firmly to the smart three-year-old BEATABOUTTHEBUSH. This daughter of Gimmethegreenlight has won four of six starts up to a mile, including all three c & d attempts. She was rested after surprisingly being outrun late into 2nd in a ten-furlong feature but has huge scope for progress and should easily handle this trip in her comeback run. Admittedly, she has some work to do at the weights with the older guard but she should raise her game.

Jockey: Marco VAN RENSBURG – Trainer: Dorrie SHAM
BAAHIR seldom runs a bad race nowadays and his strong burst helped him emerge victorious over a five-furlong dash at a lower-level four weeks ago. He beat the runner-up MADIBA DANCE by a head that day but will prefer this extra furlong and has strong claims of confirming the form despite a minor 0.5kg unfavourable weight reversal. The speedy latter has proven to be equally effective over this distance as he proved when again caught late in his penultimate showing. He deserves much respect.

GITANGO TONIGHT is one of a few contenders who represents the Banjo Buzz c & d formline on 13/05. She dead-heated for 5th with CLOSE TO MY HEART in that competitive event against winners and though well beaten subsequently, she did race in a feature last time out. The bay filly should make good improvement back in maiden company today. The latter has a slightly awkward draw and has just over two lengths to find with the top selection on their recent meeting. That said, she also has scope for progress.
