Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 2: LECTURE D(7)
Jockey: Marcus A – Trainer: Lafferty P V

LECTURE D produced his career best effort on his polytrack debut in his comeback sprint, two weeks ago. He was running on steadily for 2nd on that occasion and should strip much fitter now. The Lecture gelding should cope with the mile and he is a serious contender from a good draw with Anton Marcus now taking the ride.

Race 3: TANJIRO(7)
Jockey: Marcus A – Trainer: Kannemeyer D

TANJIRO is visiting from the Cape and the lightly raced three-year old produced his career best run over seven furlongs, last time out. He fought hard when going down one length to a decent sort at Kenilworth that day, and would have strengthened during his subsequent 15 week absence. His yard has already tasted success on this surface this season, particularly in the last week and this son of Kahal looks set to continue that trend. The bay colt has plenty of scope for improvement and should easily handle the mile. The engaging of top jockey Marcus suggests that the colt will be fit and ready.

Race 6: CAPEL TOP(3)
Jockey: Cormack S – Trainer: Kannemeyer D

The Cape raider CAPEL TOP returns to the scene of his last triumph which was more than one year ago. The chestnut gelding landed the gamble over seven furlongs that day and though he hasn’t quite lived up to expectations in the Cape since, he has produced some fair form and continues to drop in the ratings. Furthermore, he caught the eye with a pleasing comeback run at Durbanville last time and has already proven he handles this distance. The chestnut gelding drops heavily in class and should be competitive.

Race 7: OBREGA(5)

Jockey: Yeni M – Trainer: Scott C

OBREGA clearly didn’t enjoy the sedate gallop and the yielding track conditions when she performed below-par last time out. She had consistent form prior to that and went down just half a length into 2nd over a mile in her penultimate run on this track. The daughter of Var should relish a likely strong gallop tonight and she can quickly bounce back to form. Her good draw is a major plus.

VALUE BET FOR TODAY:

Race 5: BLACK JAGUAR(8)
Jockey: Jacobson B – Trainer: Robinson F

BLACK JAGUAR is gradually coming back to his best polytrack form and he should have gone even closer but for traffic issues in his last start. Still, it was an extremely pleasing recovery from the son of Black Minnaloushe who will prefer tonight’s extra furlong. He should easily handle the rise in class and is a major threat from his good draw.
