This is a highly competitive fillies and mares handicap which should be blessed with a solid gallop. The well-related OSPREY should love the strong pace and she showed smart improvement when capturing her maiden victory over this c & d in impressive fashion second time out. She would have come on appreciably from the outing and does seem to be way ahead of the handicapper’s rather low assessment. Admittedly, she takes on considerably stronger opposition today but may prove equal to the task.
Race 6: CADDY MASTER(12)
Jockey: Mandla NTULI – Trainer: Michael ROBERTS
CADDY MASTER has made his lowered merit rating count in recent starts and he had a much improved last run over the mile when finding shrewd outside betting support. The chestnut gelding was outrun late over the mile that day and today’s slightly shorter trip could suit him. He is well handicapped with a few principle contenders from his own age category.
Race 7: CUTTING EDGE(4)
Jockey: Sherman BROWN – Trainer: Dennis BOSCH
There are some really fast types in the day’s topliner which should produce an exciting finish. The narrow first verdict goes to in-form trainer Dennis Bosch’s charge CUTTING EDGE who enjoys this track. The four-year-old has regained some of his better form recently and he ran on well for 2nd despite a big mass over seven furlongs last month. He probably prefers that trip to be at his best but his jockey usually gets them going early and he is weighted to reduce the 2.80 lengths deficit with TOP FORM on their meeting in his penultimate effort.

Race 9: SUN ON AFRICA(1)
SUN ON AFRICA is a game sort who drops heavily in class after his solid last performance in a quality field over a mile and a half on the grass. He escaped without a penalty for that performance and is effective over this track & trip. The five-year-old deservedly shoulders a hefty mass but the likely sedate gallop will suit and he could prove equal to the task.

Jockey: Alec FORBES – Trainer: Mike MILLER
TRIPPILINE should build on her fair debut in a competitive six-furlong contest on the grass two weeks ago. The extra furlong and her good barrier position are obvious advantages for the Miller trained bay filly.
