Race 4

BESTOWER is a 3-year-old filly taking on the boys, but she has consistent formlines to her name and followed up her penultimate run victory over seven furlongs with a fifth place finish next time out over 1350M, 1.3L back from the winner, when returning from a 13-week rest. She did however jump awkwardly that day, bumping another runner and had to be steadied off heels at the 50M pole, so she had her excuses. From her handy draw four, she should turn in another honest performance here.

INCENDIO also won his penultimate start, but in his case over a mile. He was returning from a longer 23-week break on that occasion and was hampered at the start and raced two wide throughout. The gelding has a wideish draw eight, but on the plus side, he will get 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

FLYBALL has cracked pole position and has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three starts, the latest when fifth over a mile, three lengths behind the winner, running on well from some way back. If he has continued with that improvement, he should be included in all bets.

Race 5

LUNARTIE was slow away, finding himself towards the back of the field, but delivered a powerful finish to end up in fifth place last time out over six furlongs, 1.8L back from the winner. He gets a useful draw four and will be having his peak run after returning from a 16-week break and could prove hard to topple, to give trainer Kris Lees the first two legs of the day’s Jackpot. As such, he is made the best bet on the day’s card.

OPUS came four wide into the home straight, but battled all the way down to the line when finishing up in third place last time out over ten furlongs, 1.2L off the winner and the form of that race has been franked. The gelding returns from a 12-week rest, but has had the benefit of a barrier trial and although drawn wideish in gate eight, he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top pick.

MAGIC SHOT brushed the running rails, becoming unbalanced and hung in out down the home straight when ending up in sixth place last time out over six furlongs, 6.3L adrift of the victor, so he had excuses. The gelding has pulled a cosy draw two and gets a set of blinkers re-fitted for today’s run and if this move has the desired effect, he should be a big runner here.

Race 6

The day’s value bet, DRUMS OF WAR missed out on his hat-trick after victories over five furlongs and 900M when finishing ninth last time out over five furlongs, 6.3L behind the winner, but that was in heavy going which he did not handle, so that effort is best ignored. He was also returning from a 25-week spell that day and from his handy draw three, he will be looking to bounce back to winning ways here.

OAKFIELD BADGER on the other hand goes for his hat-trick after victories over five furlongs and the latest over six furlongs, albeit by just a head. He did come three wide into the home stretch in that event and whilst drawn wide in gate nine, he should be right up there when they hit the line. The gelding returns from a 19-week rest, but has finished third in her only barrier trial to showcase his well-being.

PROCRASTINATOR showed plenty of toe when finishing fourth in his latest outing over 900M, just over three lengths behind the winner. He will have 3kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice and is sure to put his pole position to good use.

Race 7

This looks to be a tricky race to end off the Jackpot with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. SNOW FALCON is a 4-year-old filly taking on males, but she is seldom far off the action, finishing second last time out over six furlongs, just a half-length back from the winner, but she was hampered at the start and was some way out of her ground that day. She did, however, finish off her race well and from the widest draw of them all in gate fifteen, she is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the latter part of the race.

LION CLASS has consistent formlines to his credit and raced three wide throughout and came four wide into the home straight, before making good late progress to finish fourth last time out over six furlongs, just over a half-length behind the winner. The gelding is not drawn much better in gate twelve, but he should be doing his best work late.

ZANARDEE’S LANE had solid form prior to finishing a disappointing ninth last time out over seven furlongs, six and a half lengths back from the victor. He has blinkers re-fitted today and the drop-in trip should be to his liking. From gate five, he should not be easily overlooked.
