MARCUS AND LAFFERTY SAY CATCH ME IF YOU CAN
Anton Marcus had another fantastic day as he rode four of the eight winners at Hollywoodbets Scottsville to extend his lead to 65 at the top of the KZN Hollywoodbets Sizzling Summer Challenge.
Marcus opened the meeting on Brilliant Disguise for Duncan Howells and went on to win the last three races on the card. Warren Kennedy managed one place from his six rides yesterday and finds himself still in second with Keagan de Melo two points behind him in third.
Paul Lafferty also managed to extend his lead to 47 points on top of the trainer’s log with one winner, Celebration Rock. Hollywoodbets Sponsored trainers Garth Puller and Alyson Wright still find themselves in second and third with the biggest mover being Michael Roberts who moved from tenth into fifth after accumulating 40 points from his six runners.
The horse’s log still sees Lafferty’s horses dominating the top of the leaderboard as he still holds the first two places with Bint El Malak and Explosive Beauty.
The next leg of the KZN Sizzling Summer Challenge sees racing return to Hollywoodbets Greyville where an eight race meeting is scheduled.

GLITTER AND GOLD has shown good improvement in her last two starts over this minimum distance. The daughter of Oratorio showed good pace last time, but lacked extra in the closing stages. It must be noted that Whizz Of Odds has come out and won again since. Keagan de Melo knows her well and the pair could find themselves in the winners enclosure today.

AMERICAN PRINCESS is her own worst enemy as she has given away start in all four of her races. Her last run was encouraging when having to overcome a wide draw of thirteen. The daughter of Master Of My Fate will enjoy stepping up to the ten furlongs this afternoon and gets the services of top jockey, Anton Marcus. The blinkers get fitted for the first time today which should keep her mind on the job at hand. If jumping on terms, she should be hard to beat.

BABY SHOOZ has his peak run here and retains the services of Anton Marcus. He has only had the one win so far, but the manner in which he dispensed with the opposition last time out to win that race which was over this c&d, was encouraging and he looks capable of following up here, despite a wide draw.

Jockey: W Kennedy – Trainer: W Whitehead
ALFONSE BABY has definitely found the right race to shed her maiden tag. She moved up well last time but was beaten in the shadow of the post. Warren Kennedy retains the ride and from her wideish draw of eight, she should be hard to beat.

PICKAWINNER hasn’t been too far off the action in recent outings. He set the pace in his last start and stayed on well at the business end of the race. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He meets the right type of field today and it would not be a surprise to see him back in the winner’s enclosure. Anton Marcus was aboard the son of What A Winter when he won his maiden over this c&d.
