That should have provided the fitness edge for him to beat Duty, whose prominent racing style could make him the hare to catch. He faded last time but has a good drawn from which to attack.

Race 3: No4 – CHARIOTS OF FIRE

Another that now enjoys a fitness edge, CHARIOTS OF FIRE should be near peak after running on strongly but just failing to get up in a maiden handicap at Newcastle. With the addition of first time headgear he rates the one to beat. Any Wish is a regular money earner who, like the top selection, has shown he can go on the soft. He’s a definite candidate for the main cheque while Tamarin Falls only just failed here last time and has claims.

Race 5: No10 – NOBODY’S PUPPET
Trainer: Nick Olive – Jockey: Jay Ford
The percentage call has to be NOBODY’S PUPPET who stayed on for a frame finish in testing conditions at Canberra last time. That was her fifth placing from six outings this season, and makes her overdue in a race where she’s carrying less weight. Hard Core poses a threat granted he goes well off a break, while any further improvement in the ground will suit.
