A very competitive eight-race programme is scheduled for Kilmore on Thursday. CHAIRMAN’S LIST who is in Race 3 is the best bet on today’s card. He didn’t see out the extra distance last time, but if repeating his penultimate effort when finishing second, he should take a power of beating.

Race 1
FLYING BANJO produced a very good comeback run over this distance at Benalla last time. He raced from a handy position that day and stayed on well up the straight. He should strip a much fitter horse this afternoon and he gets the services of Daniel Stackhouse who has ridden him twice for two second-place finishes. SCRAMBLER made the natural improvement in his last start over the minimum trip when finishing second. He settled mid-field that day and ran on up the straight which will suggest that he will be suited to the extra distance on offer today. Clayton Douglas is back in the saddle this afternoon and the pair merit obvious inclusion.
Race 2
PANDA’S NOSEY BOOT is one of the better bets on today’s programme. She has shown good improvement in each of her outings to date. She chased solidly all the way to the line in her last start when finishing second over nine-furlongs. The manner in which she finished off her race last time suggests that she will enjoy the extra distance on offer today. It is encouraging that jockey Denicious Smith retains the ride as he knows the daughter of Reset well. PARAPHERNALIA’S last two starts after an 18-week break have been fair. She was doing her best work late in her last effort over a mile and will enjoy the rise in distance today. The daughter of Redoute’s Choice is having her peak run this afternoon and she should be at peak fitness for this race.
Race 3
CHAIRMAN’S LIST may not have seen out the 2100m of his last start at Echuca. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He ran a very good race in his penultimate start when finishing second over 1700m. He is likely to race on the speed this afternoon and may be hard to peg back in the closing stages. SPILIA produced a fair comeback run after 23 weeks off the track. He has placed over this distance in the past and should strip a much fitter horse this afternoon. It is encouraging that jockey Brett Pebble does duty as he has a 22%-win strike rate for this trainer. Should the top choice fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.
Race 4
This is a week Maiden field and caution is advised. The narrow first selection is ZEE REBEL who produced very good consistent form before given a much needed 19-week break. He drops in trip this afternoon, but that shouldn’t pose a concern as he is likely to race from off the speed and do his best work up the straight. He should take a power of beating in this weak line-up. FRONT PAGE NEWS produced some fair form before given a 17-week break. He has his first run over this distance and if not in need of this outing, he could be the one to pick up the pieces should the top selection fluff his lines.
Race 5
COWLEY’S CREEK ran a very good race in his last start over this type of distance at Benalla. He has finished second three times from four attempts over this trip. Billy Egan who has ridden him five times for a win, two seconds and a third-place finish does duty and the pair should take a power of beating in this type of field. LESHAM won his maiden race over six furlongs at Cranbourne last time. He set the pace that day and fought hard all the way to the finish line. He does take on stronger this afternoon, but he is lightly raced and looks to have plenty of scope. Brian Higgins retains the ride and the pair may be hard to peg back in the closing stages.
Race 6
MELBOURNE HERO has very good consistent formlines to her name. She settled mid-field in her last effort over this distance and stayed on well at the business end of the race. Brett Pebble does duty for the first time this afternoon and he may be able to coax that little bit extra out of her where it matters most. LA SCIPPATORI got back to winning ways in her last start over 1300m. She has a decent record this season having won once, finished second once and third on two occasions from five starts. Declan Bates knows the mare well and the pair may be the ones to throw out the biggest challenge to the top choice.
Race 7
MISS SAV produced a very good comeback run over 1450m on this course. She raced from a handy position and fought hard all the way to the finishing line on that occasion. She has won once, finished second three times and third once from seven outings over this distance and she runs well for jockey Daniel Stackhouse with a record of one win, two seconds and a third-place finish from five starts. She does have a wide draw to contend with today but is likely to use her early gate speed to get across without using up too much energy. SIR HARALD showed some signs of returning to best form in his last start. He has won once and finished third once from five attempts over this distance. He gets the services of a 2kg claiming apprentice this afternoon and should be right there in the run down to the finishing post.
Race 8
CUPID’S BOW won her maiden race over seven furlongs last time and has been given a well-deserved 14-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. She does take on stronger opposition today, but she is lightly raced and looks progressive. It is encouraging that jockey Daniel Stackhouse takes the ride and the combination should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure. HAWKSMOOR has very good consistent form lines to his name. He has won once, finished second twice and third on four occasions from fifteen outings in this class. Jason Maskiell steps back into the saddle and the pair merit healthy respect.
