A nine-race programme is scheduled for Rockhampton on Tuesday. It is a very competitive card, but there is some nice value in a few races and money can be made.

The best bet comes in Race 4 in the form of MARWAY who has finished second in his last two starts. He loves racing on this track and should take a power of beating.

Race 1
JOMERA is a three-year-old filly taking on the males and she has shown good improvement in her last three starts. She was running on nicely at the finish in her last start over 1050m and will enjoy the step up to the six furlongs. She has finished second twice from three starts on this course and if overcoming her wide draw, she should be the one they all have to beat. PRINCE DUPORTH showed good improvement in his last start over today’s distance. He is having his first run for trainer Kerrod Smyth and if confirming his recent improvement, he should be right there in the run down to the finishing post.

Race 2
PAUA needed his last two starts after returning from a 20-week break. He loves racing on this track with two wins and a second-place finish from four outings. He is having his peak run this afternoon and should be cherry-ripe. He does have a wide draw to contend with but gets the services of Brad Pengelly and he may be the one to side with here. TARAKI produced some very good form before given a lengthy 41-week break. He loves racing over this distance as he has won three times and finished third once from five attempts. If not in need of this outing, he may be the one to pose the biggest threat to the top choice.

Race 3
POETIC HEART is one of the better bets on today’s card. He has very good consistent recent form to his name. He was running on well at the finish in his last start over seven furlongs, but it was just too late. He runs well over this course and distance with a record of one win and a second-place finish from three starts. He gets the services of a 1.5kg claiming apprentice and may be mowing down the frontrunners in the closing stages. MASON’S CHOICE has not finished too far behind the winner in recent outings. He loves this course and distance, and should the top selection fluff his lines, he may be the one to pick up the pieces.

Race 4
MARWAY has finished runner-up in his last two starts over six furlongs. He moved up like a winner in his last start, but was picked off in the shadow of the post. It must be noted that he is unbeaten from three starts over this course and distance. Brad Pengelly rides and the pair should take a power of beating. FLYING CRACKERJACK has not finished too far behind the winner in recent runs. He was running on well at the finish last time, but could not reel in the winner. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Wicked Style runs from a good draw today and should be one of the leading contenders for the placings.

Race 5
HEYGERONIMO is the value bet on today’s programme. He was a surprise winner of his last start over 1050m on this course just a week ago. He is having a very good season winning two of his three starts. If this run has not come too early, he has a good chance on notching up a quick double. VAN WINKEL has finished runner-up in his last two starts. He was no match for the winner over nine furlongs in his last start and drops in distance today. His record over this trip is good with two wins and two second place finishes from five outings. Should the top selection fluff his lines, he should be the one to pick up the pieces.

Race 6
ELLE A WALKING is yet to be unplaced in his last five starts. He has a good record over today’s distance with a record of four wins, three seconds and three third place finishes from twenty attempts. He is making his course debut this afternoon and if suited to the track, he may find himself in the winner’s enclosure. HADRIAN has returned to his best form in his last two starts. He won his last start at Mackay with ease over slightly further and has placed in his only attempt on this course. With Nigel Seymour doing duty, he may be the one to throw out the biggest challenge to the top selection.

Race 7
PRINCESS RULES has run four times for two wins and two second place finishes. She was running on well at the finish in her last start over this distance, but it was just a little too late. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. She is unbeaten on this course and has a good chance if keeping that record intact. MISS LOT WON’S last two starts have been fair. She was reported to be tied up last time, so that was not a true reflection of her ability. It must be noted that two horses from that formline have come out and won since. With a bit of luck in running, she should be one of the leading contenders for the placings.

Race 8
CYCLONE FUGITIVE is in very good form this season with two wins, a second and a third-place finish from as many outings. He won his last start well over 1100m and it must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He loves this course with a record of three wins and three second place finishes from seven outings. In this field, he may be the one to side with. ALLROUND GLORY is the stable companion of the top selection. He produced a very good comeback run last time after 20 weeks off the track. He should strip much fitter this afternoon and should give the top choice a run for his money.

Race 9
WIDE LOAD is lightly raced having only had the four starts to date. He stayed on well to finish third over this course and distance last time. He won his maiden race under today’s jockey Nigel Seymour and the pair should remain unbeaten as a partnership. BRAD finally shed his maiden tag at the 14th time of asking. He gave a nice kick at the top of the straight and kept finding all the way to the finishing post. Up in class this afternoon, there may be more to come from the son of Medaglia D’Oro and he should be right there in the run down to the wire.
