Belmont Park (Race 4-9)

Race 3.
SHOWMANSHIP has his hat-trick attempt here after winning his last two outings after returning from a 47 week break. He jumps from gate six and looks very difficult to oppose and is taking as the best bet on today’s program. FRED DAG is drawn one inside the former and steps up from six furlongs where he finished fifth, 4.5L behind the winner. He could be the biggest danger to the top pick. MILITARY RULER returns from a lengthy 52 week break and has not had the benefit of a barrier trial, so his fitness will have to be taken on trust. He also has the widest draw to overcome. MR GENOA steps up in distance from the six furlongs of his last outing when finishing two lengths back and may do better as a result.

Race 6.
SON OF A GOD missed out on his hat-trick last time out when dropping down to five furlongs, but returns to the six furlongs today, the distance over which he recorded his previous two victories. He will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways here. WANNA BE GOOD has posted three solid efforts over five furlongs and takes on the extra furlong today. He found plenty of betting support last time out and gets the blinkers removed for the first time. He could be the immediate threat to the former. PEARLS AND PRAWNS is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys. She returns from a lengthy 80 weeks off the race track, but has put in two solid barrier trials, winning the latest. She should give the males a good run for their money. MASCHINO MISS is a 4yr old filly who has her first run since a 15 week rest, but has not had a barrier trial. She has however cracked pole position and was only beaten a head in her last start over this trip before the break.

Race 7.
KING BLITZ has his hat-trick run after winning his last outing over nine furlongs. He did however win his penultimate start over this distance, so the drop in trip should not be an issue. He is drawn eleven out of the twelve runners, but should nevertheless still be right up there when they hit the line. TOUCH OF SILVER has recorded solid staying form and drops back in distance here after two runs over eleven furlongs. If not finding this distance on the sharp side, he should be involved in the finish. WRINKLY has cracked pole position and was staying on well last time out over six furlongs, suggesting that the step up in trip should no be a problem. SON OF BACCHUS followed up his penultimate victory with a seventh-place finish over the same distance. He will be hoping to recapture the form that brought about that last win.

Race 8.
WESTERN PRIDE is a 4yr old filly taking on males, but she completed her quartet of wins last time out over 1300M when returning from a year’s break. From her handy six draw, she will be looking to continue along with her winning ways. GATES OF BABYLON found plenty of betting support when missing out on his hat-trick last time out over this c&d. He has pulled pole position and is sure to keep the top choice honest. PROCONSENT also missed out on his trio of wins last time out when finishing 3.7L back over seven furlongs. He has a wideish eight gate, but is likely to put in another solid performance here. FUHRER went from start to finish when winning by a head last time out over the mile, so may not be too inconvenienced by his wide thirteen draw.

Race 9.
MASSIMO will be hoping to complete a Pike/Durrant double for the jockey and trainer after their success in the previous event. He has finished second in his last three runs and drops in distance after finishing just 0.2L back last time out over six furlongs. He found plenty of betting support that day and from draw five, he will be looking to go one better today. PRIM AND PROPER is a 3yr old filly taking on boys and is drawn one inside the top pick. She has consistent formlines to her credit and has her peak run here. In addition, she gets a set of blinkers fitted for the first time and if these have the desired effect, she should be a massive runner here. WE’VE GOT DREAMS is another 3yr old filly. She is a speedy sort who goes for her hat-trick here after winning her last two outings over this trip. She has a wide draw to negotiate, but should use her early gate speed to move across without using up too much energy. CRYPTIC LOVE is a 4yr old filly who is seldom far off the action. She is likely to be right up there with the leaders in the dash down to the wire.

Race 3.
GREAT DUCHESS has her hat-trick run here and did post a win over the seven furlongs in her penultimate start. From draw three, she looks the value on today’s program. SO YOU SWING had consistent form to her name before taking a 26 week break from racing. Her comeback outing over seven furlongs was encouraging, finishing fifth, only 1.7L behind the winner. If not in need of one more run, she could threaten the former. KINGS BROOK has shown good improvement in her last two starts and has drawn pole position. She should be respected in this line-up. MISS MANDITO is seldom far off the winner. She steps up in trip, but was making good late progress last time out over six furlongs and should enjoy going the extra distance.

Race 6.
This looks a very open staying race with many having good chances of winning. ARTY LUCAS put 3.3L between himself and the balance of the field when winning from the front last time out over ten furlongs. He is likely to adopt similar tactics today and might prove difficult to reel in over the closing stages of the contest. SASKO goes for his hat-trick here and won last time out over this c&d. He has a wide draw of eleven to negotiate, but he is seldom far off the action and should put in another honest performance today. CHAPADA also won this last outing over the c&d and has cracked pole position. He has consistent formlines to his credit and should be involved in the finish here. MAHAMEDEIS won his latest run over ten furlongs. He was running on well that day, suggesting that the step up in trip will be to his liking.

Race 7.
KING OF HASTINGS has shown good improvement in his last two outings when dropping to sprinting distances. He made good late progress when winning last time out over six furlongs and will be looking to complete a quick double. THAT GIRL is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she won her last start over 1100M and has pulled pole position. She is sure to give the males a good run for their money. KALKARNI ROYALE is also a 3yr old filly who won her last outing over six furlongs, despite being friendless in the betting markets. She jumps from gate three and should be included in all bets. FRONT PAGE has his hat-trick attempt here. His last two victories have been recorded over 1100m, but he was an easy winner last time out and should have no issue stepping up in distance.

Race 8.
HEPTAGON has his hat-trick run here. He has pole position and has proven form in soft going. The way he has dispatched the opposition in his last two victories suggests that the trio of wins is very much on the cards. VASSILATOR showed marked improvement in his last two runs, winning his latest outing over the c&d by a short-head. His handy six draw is a plus. HAUNTED made good improvement when stepping up to this c&d last time out, only being denied victory in the shadow of the post. He jumps from gate two and should be right up there when they hit the line. ROX THE CASTLE has solid recent form and although finishing sixth last time out over this c&d, he was just 1.5L back. He has a wide draw of twelve to overcome, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without using up too much energy.

Race 9.
PREZADO has won three on the bounce, all over five furlongs at this venue. He steps up in trip, but this would seem to be well within his capabilities and from draw three, he could be the one that they all have to beat. MALIBU STYLE has consistent form to his name and finished fourth last time out over six furlongs at this track. He is drawn in gate eight, but he may prove the biggest competition to the top pick. ORDER OF COMMAND missed out on his hat-trick last time out when finishing fifth over six furlongs, 2.8L behind the winner. He will be hoping to get back to winning ways today. SNITZKRAFT finished under a length behind the winner last time out over five furlongs and should enjoy going the extra ground on offer here.
