Race 5

SECRETS NO MORE is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys, but she has shown steady improvement in her last three runs, culminating with a two and a half-length victory to post her fourth career victory last time out over this distance. She finished strongly that day, despite racing three wide and although having to negotiate draw seven, she is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card. DRAGONEIGHT renews his rivalry with the top choice having finished second to her last time out in the race referred to above. He has cracked pole position and will face the former on 3kg better terms, which should bring the pair closer together. He was staying on that day and did hang in over the closing stages, so there was much to like about the effort. There should not be much separating the two when they hit the line. MARRIED TO THE MOB has only had the four runs to date and showed marked improvement to win his last outing over five furlongs by one length. He returns from a 20-week rest but has had the benefit of three barrier trial to prove his fitness, finishing third in the latest. He faces a wide gate ten, but he nevertheless should be included in all bets.

Race 6

FREE DAWN is a 3yr filly taking on males. She raced green and shifted about at the 150M mark before finishing third on debut over five furlongs, one and a half lengths back from the winner. She would have learned from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, she should give the boys a good run for their money, jumping from her gate five. FROM THE HIP made good late progress when ending up fourth in his last start over five furlongs, 2.8L behind the victor, and on that effort, he should appreciate the extra ground on offer here. He is drawn in gate three and has his peak run after returning from a 24-week break. JUST LIKE LISA is another three-year-old filly in the race. She has only had the two runs to date and finished second last time out over 1280M, just over four lengths behind the winner. She hit the front as they entered the home straight and was only run out of it late. She will have to overcome draw nine but is likely to have made further improvement.

Race 7

Two three-year-old fillies look like they could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but today’s best bet, CIAO UNO looks to be the one to side with. She had her consistency rewarded when putting five and a half lengths between herself and the balance of the field to win at the fifth time of asking last time out over 1100M at this track when returning from a 20 week absence. She drew clear at the 250M mark and was eased up going through the winning post. From gate seven, she could complete her double here. NICCI TRIX finished fourth on debut over 1100M at this venue and then went from jump to tape to win next time out over this c&d by five lengths. She has subsequently won a barrier trial and jumping from gate three, she could emerge as the immediate danger to the top choice. ELUSIVE EAGLE is seldom far off the action and was a staying on second in his last start over five furlongs at this course when returning from a 25-week break. He is drawn one inside the top pick and should be involved in the finish.

Race 8

FICSMM DAVE has his hat-trick attempt hereafter mowing down the opposition to win his last start over 1300M by two lengths. He steps up in trip here, but on that last showing, this should not present an issue. He gets a handy draw four and should be right up there when they hit the line. NOBLE CAUSE has recorded one win, one second, and three third-place finishes in his last five outings, the latest when third over 1300m, just over a length and a half behind the victor when returning from a 17-week absence. He is drawn one inside the top pick and also takes a hike in distance, but he should not be easily discounted. JETLINE is a 4yr old filly taking on boys. She adopted frontrunning tactics when finishing fifth in her last start over six furlongs and from draw twelve today, she is likely to use that early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.
