Race 3.

This looks a competitive contest to kick off the Jackpot and some caution is suggested. PURE FAITH is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys, but she is seldom far off the action and although recorded as finishing fifth last time out over 1300M, she was just under a length and a half behind the winner. She stayed on well that day and from her widest draw of them all in gate eleven, she should be doing her best work late. She has her first run for her new trainer and will get the services of ex-SA jockey Keagan Latham, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle. YUGOSPHERE is a 4yr old filly who showed solid improvement to win her maiden race last time out over 1300M. She hit the front at the 200M mark that day and then proceeded to put three lengths between herself and the opposition. She takes on stronger today, but will jump from a handy draw two and could threaten the top choice. BERRUTI has shown steady form in his last three outings after winning over five furlongs on debut. He has cracked pole position and should be right up there when they hit the line. By contrast, AEROBATIC WARRIOR has drawn poorly in gate ten, but his four runs to date have yielded one first, one second and two third place finishes. He should be involved in the finish here.

Race 4.

HOOYAH has consistent formlines to his name and raced to the front at the 225M pole before being run out of it very late to end up in second spot, just a length back from the victor. He will have to negotiate draw eight, but the drop in distance should be to his liking and he is taken to be the value bet on today’s card. ZODIACUS is drawn one inside the former and has only had the two runs to date. He showed improvement last time out when finishing fourth over 1300M, three lengths behind the winner, despite racing wide. If he has continued down that same path, he could be the biggest danger to the top pick. MARCHER SUR L’EAU makes his debut here, but has had the benefit of four barrier trial, winning the last two. He is draw in gate ten, but any betting support for him should be respected. The same comment also applies to the other first timer in the race.

Race 5.

Two 3yr old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta. SUPER ONE SUSIE was hampered shortly after the start and then overraced in the middle stages before staying on to finish second in her last start over 1300M, two lengths back from the winner. That was her second place finish in as many starts and although having to deal with draw eleven out of fifteen, she will have Keagan Latham on top. GLOWING RED finished second on debut over 1100M, just 0.4L behind the winner. She was friendless in the betting markets that day, but she would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, she could emerge as the biggest threat to the former. ELUSIVE BABBZ finished third first time out over five furlongs, just over a length and a half adrift of the winner. He on the other hand, did attracted good betting support that day suggesting that he had been showing good work back home. He jumps from gate six and should be included in all bets.

Race 6.

With the three late scratchings in the race, only nine runners face the starter here and the day’s best bet, CIAO UNO is chosen to lead the pack home. She is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she followed up her penultimate run victory by some five and a half lengths when returning from a 20 week rest with a second place finish over six furlongs, just under a length back from the winner. She battled all the way down to the wire that day and from her handy gate three, she may prove difficult to topple. PLUCK AND LUCKY is a 5yr old mare who had finished third in her two runs over today’s distance before ending up in eighth place last time out over the same trip, 2.7L behind the winner. She was crowded at the start that day and was forced to race at the back of the field. She now jumps from draw seven and with better luck in running here, she should not be easily overlooked. MAGIC PALACE is a 4yr old filly who has only had three runs to date. She won over five furlongs on debut and then finished seventh in her latest outing over five furlongs, just over four and a half lengths behind the winner when returning from a lengthy 82 week absence. She is drawn one outside the latter and the fact that her connections have kept her in racing may suggest that they still believe that she has something left to offer them.
