Is Do It Again SA’s best horse ever?

When it comes to choosing the best horse ever to contest in South Africa, there is no definitive answer – with over 100 very good horses to choose from, it’s an almost impossible task! However, there are a few very good horses that have stolen the hearts of many horse racing fans and one of them is Do It Again.

In South Africa, we’ve been blessed with top athletes over the years and some went on to win races abroad on big racecourses like Meydan.

Whenever we talk about top horses in the country names like Horse Chesnut, Politician,  Jackson, Variety Club, Dynasty, El Picha, Sea Cottage, Louis the King, Abashiri and Do It Again deserve a mention.

Do It Again may be retiring soon from racing, but that hasn’t stopped the son of Twice Over from scooping more silverware. The seven-year-old bay gelding recently won the World Sports Betting 1900, a Grade 2 event at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday 14 May 2022, despite jumping awkwardly.

The was his sixth win at Hollywoodbets Greyville, a racecourse he loves, having won back-to-back Durban Julys on the same turf.

Do It Again has won over R9 million rands in stakes and is most people’s all-time favourite horse.

Below we take a look at some of Do It Again’s best runs as well as some top performances from the likes of Politician and Horse Chestnut.

For me, Do It Again is the best horse in the modern era and no horse comes close to him. At his best,  the two-time Hollywoodbets Durban July winner is capable of beating any racehorse in the country.

Adding to his incredible successes, Do It Again was desperately unlucky in last year’s Hollywoodbets Durban July, getting blocked for a clear run four times over the last 400 meters.

The Justin Snaith trained star is currently priced up at 10/1 to win the Hollywoodbets Durban July.
