Race 2: CLIFTON SUNSET(1)
Race 5: MASTER’S EYE(1)
Race 6: WONDERWALL(1)
Race 9: UNICORN(13)
Jockey: Sean VEALE – Trainer: Dennis DRIER
VIA SACRA confirmed that she is above-average when she finished strongly for 2nd under a big mass on her handicap and local debut over this c & d late last month. The chestnut filly would have come on further from that experience and should strip much fitter today. She can certainly raise her game in this higher company and could have a bright future.

Race 3: MAMBO MIME(6)
Jockey: MJ BYLEVELD – Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER
The five-year old entire’ MAMBO MIME is plagued with injury which explains why he hasn’t trained on after showing top potential as a three-year old. However, his two fair comeback runs at handicap level this campaign have been encouraging and the Kannemeyer inmate will be cherry-ripe today. He will easily handle this rise in class and is 6kgs better off with his main danger MILTON on their meeting behind subsequent Met winner Whisky Baron on 07/01.

Race 4: SAND AND SEA(7)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS- Trainer: Dennis DRIER
The brilliant
SAND AND SEA remained undefeated during his juvenile campaign as he showed an incredible turn of foot to land a Grade 1 in just his second career start. The Drier inmate would have blossomed during a deserved 25 week absence and he now has his seasonal and Cape debut. The son of Twice Over races in open company for the first time but is fairly well-weighted and could pay to follow during the summer.

Race 9: CHESTNUT’S CHARM(4)
Jockey: Richard FOURIE – Trainer: Glen KOTZEN
The Chinkapin formline could dominate the outcome of this final event where
CHESTNUT’S CHARM is expec- ted to turn the tables on the runner-up
DESTINY DUCHESS. The pair were drawn badly in that nine furlong contest at Durbanville last month where the latter was outrun late into 2nd in her first try with blinkers. She has a length and a half to spare with the top rating but the extra furlong could bring the pair much closer together, particularly as the former jumps from a good draw today. Inciden- tally, the latter has the widest barrier to overcome of the 13 entrants.

Race 5: SILVER DE LANGE(6)
Jockey: Anthony ANDREWS – Trainer: Willem A NEL
This is an intriguing marathon affair where the official ratings may not necessarily be the best guide. The lightly raced four-year old SILVER DE LANGE is improving rapidly and he showed his staying prowess when he finished smartly to defeat subsequent winner Juddering Angel over a mile and a half three weeks ago. He had the veteran campaigner BLUE DOOR just under one length adrift but is only 0.5kg worse off and undoubtedly has much scope for improvement. Admittedly, he has a ‘mountain’ to climb at the weights but the son of Silvano should relish the step-up in distance and could develop into a top stayer. He shoulders a low mass of just 52kgs.
