This year’s Vodacom Durban July winner, KOMMETDIEDING makes his seasonal debut. He returns from a well-deserved 18-week break, but has had a public gallop leading up to this race. He is unbeaten from four starts at Kenilworth and is suited to the mile. Gavin Lerena makes his way from Gauteng to ride the son of Elusive Fort and the combination should find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.

SILVER HOST should have won the Grade 3 Gold Cup last time as he was bumped at the 300m mark before finishing his race off strongly. He returns from a 14-week break which would have done him the world of good. He has won three times, finished second once and third once from eleven starts on this course. With a bit of luck in running, he should be the one to beat.
