Magic Tips Best Bets

Top Bet
Race 2: TRIP THE WILLOW(13)
Jockey: Grant VAN NIEKERK – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

The raced runners could again make their experience count in this juvenile contest and TRIP THE WILLOW drops in class after making her debut against winners, two weeks ago. The daughter of Trippi was fancied when she raced green and managed a fair 4th, beaten just three lengths at the line. She would have come on appreciably from the outing and should make natural improvement.

Race 4: VARIANCE(1)
Jockey: MJ BYLEVELD – Trainer: Vaughan MARSHALL

There are plenty of form runners in this maiden contest and this formline should certainly be worth following in the future. The ultra-consistent VARIANCE has solid credentials, having finished runner-up in three of her last four starts. She is well drawn over an ideal c & d and has strong claims of going one better.

Race 5: FLYING RYAN(1)
Jockey: Fareed ANTHONY – Trainer: Glen PULLER

FLYING RYAN would have needed his comeback run after a 15-week break but he was making some eye-catching late progress over the seven furlongs and he will be fitter today. The son of Horse Chestnut displayed some decent ability prior to the layoff and he produced a powerful finish when pipped into 2nd over this c & d in his penultimate start. He should bounce back to form here and is the yard’s only entrant on the card. The Glen Puller inmate jumps from a midfield draw.

Race 8: SWEETCHILD O MIN(1)

Jockey: Heavelon VAN DER HOVEN – Trainer: Adam MARCUS

The Adam Marcus yard is well represented in this final contest and the stable duo of SWEETCHILD O MINE and BOOMTOWN BELTER renew their rivalry. Just three parts of a length separated the pairing over this c & d last time, in favour of the older charge who was subsequently raised two pounds in her rating. The former stayed on well for 3rd after showing good speed on that occasion and the 2.5kgs apprentice allowance will help her cause today. She clearly has more scope of the pair and must again be taken very seriously.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 6: IRISH DYNASTY(7)
Jockey: Lucian AFRICA – Trainer: Greg ENNION

This is an interesting staying handicap and with just seven entrants going to post, the pace or lack thereof is the obvious concern. An upset could be on the cards and the four-year-old gelding IRISH DYNASTY could provide it on his third run after the layoff. The son of Dynasty showed a real love for staying trips when he first tried twelve furlongs and he has a decent finishing burst. He was below par when possibly needing both his comeback runs after a long absence but should be cherry-ripe today and has the class to account for this field. He has a decent galloping mass of 54kgs.
