Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Wednesday’s racing taking place at Nottingham, Kempton Park, Bangor-On-Dee, and Huntingdon!
NOTTINGHAM
Race 3: No3 – MISHAL STAR (Nap)
Trainer: Tom Ward – Jockey: Harry Bentley
There’s little not to like about MEHMAS STAR in this nursery, granted the way her form is working out and the decisive manner in which she opened her account at Kempton. The daughter of sire-of-the-moment Mehmas finished less than three lengths behind subsequent Cheveley Park Stakes winner Alcohol-Free on debut at Newbury and was backed into odds-on when powering home on the Polytrack. There should be more to come as she now goes down the handicap route.
Race 4: No6 – BIMBLE
Trainer: Henry Candy – Jockey: Ron Hornby
The lightly-raced BIMBLE jumps off the page in this sprint handicap. She landed some good bets on second career start in a Goodwood maiden, and when returning from an 11-week break went down narrowly to Star In The Making when moving into handicap company at Salisbury. Had she not taken such a keen grip during the early stages of that contest the result might have been different, and she’ll have more chance of settling in this bigger field.
Race 5: No3 – ALFRED BOUCHER
Trainer: Henry Candy – Jockey: Ron Hornby
ALFRED BOUCHER found himself in the handicapper’s grip after reeling-off a fine hat-trick last summer. He’s not the biggest individual but showed when running Andaleep to half a length at Sandown last time that he’s back to a potentially winning mark. He’s shown a liking for this course in the past and should get into the argument.
KEMPTON PARK
Race 2: No1 – ADACE (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: William Buick
This fillies’ novice has cut up to give ADACE a good chance to endorse the promise shown on her debut here when she finished just out of the money behind Perfect Times. Buick is an eye taking booking for the daughter of Adaay, who has pleased in her subsequent work.
Race 4: No13 – SIAM FOX
Trainer: Richard Hannon – Jockey: Silvestre De Sousa
SIAM FOX ran into a couple of useful foes when second at Ascot and Newbury, form that makes him the one to beat in this novice stakes. The Prince Of Lir colt can now play the experience card, and can confirm the good form of his stable by taking the spoils at the main expense of Siskany.
BANGOR-ON-DEE
Race 1: No5 – GO MILLIE GO (Nap)
Trainer: Stuart Edmunds – Jockey: Cieren Gethings
Former Irish-trainer GO MILLIE GO showed she was getting the hang of things on her last two of three starts over jumps for Edmunds at Hereford and Ludlow. The Milan mare has been absent for more than nine months but is reported to do herself justice against Wynn House, whose own form is in bumpers.
Race 3: No2 – EARL OF HARROW
Trainer: Warren Greatrex – Jockey: Adrian Heskin
EARL OF HARROW, who is named after the late singer and Monster Raving Loony politician Screaming Lord Sutch, won three times over middle distances on the Flat before joining his current handler. The Sixties Icon gelding shaped encouragingly in two outings over jumps at Catterick and Kempton and is well-tuned for this clash with the equally well-regarded Isolate.
Race 7: No2 – VOCALISER
Trainer: Olly Murphy – Jockey: Fergus Gregory
Having scraped home in a desperate finish on debut for the resurgent Murphy, VOCALISER should be capable of a follow up after a five-week break to get over those exertions. He appears to have improved for a change of scenery, and in this two and a half mile handicap chase takes on rivals that are in the main out of form.
HUNTINGDON
Race 3: No1 – LEROY LEROY (Nap)
Trainer: Jim Boyle – Jockey: Robbie Dunne
This novice hurdle can go to the penalised LEROY LEROY, who has taken well to jumping, posting two near-misses before opening his account at Southwell. The strength of that wide margin success over Pink Sheets has been boosted by the second, and he can prove too strong under his penalty for the promising Ajero.
Race 5: No5 – STONEMADFORSPEED
Trainer: Roger Teal – Jockey: Daryl Jacob
STONEMADFORSPEED’s second in a claiming hurdle at Southwell reads well in the context of a weak heart in which few have much to recommend them. The free going selection is an infrequent winner but with the cards in his favour can again get into the shake-up.
