BRIGHTON

Race 2 No1 MR POY (Nap)
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: David Egan

Easily the most experienced runner in this maiden, MR POY competes at this level for the first time in over a year. His best form in handicaps would make him the clear pick and he should deliver.

Race 8 No1 TYGER BAY
Trainer: Conrad Allen – Jockey: Grace McEntee

Dual all-weather scorer TYGER BAY showed he has the versatility to be just as good on turf when caught in the final strides on turf debut at Bath last month. The run shows the top weight is going the right way, while he has a useful apprentice lessening his burden by 5lb.

BEVERLEY

Race 6 No12 GHOSTLY (Each Way)
Trainer: Mrs Barclay – Jockey: Faye McManoman

GHOSTLY has a good draw from which to secure a prominent early position at a track where it usually pays to be on or near the pace. His turf form is better than his all-weather, as shown on his latest start when beaten by Tommy R in a photo at Carlisle. This is a similar track, and its stiff finish can play to the grey’s strengths.

Race 8 No6 FOSSOS
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: William Pyle

With earning efforts in both 2021 starts, FOSSOS looks to be turning the corner. He’s improved since being equipped with cheek pieces, was narrowly beaten at Catterick last time and should go be better returned to this stiffer course.

AYR

Race 1 No4 ZORAVAN (Nap)
Trainer: Keith Dalgleish – Jockey: Billy Garrity

ZORAVAN has won on good to firm at this track and with conditions the same can bounce back from an underwhelming run at Carlisle. He was unlucky on his second 2021 outing over course and distance last month and should get a decent pace off which he can launch his trademark late thrust.

Race 2 No2 MONSIEUR JUMBO (Nap)
Trainer: Kevin Ryan – Jockey: Tom Eaves

The best bet on the card is MONSIEUR JUMBO, a son of the impressive rookie stallion Caravaggio. The Nap made a more experienced rival fight for the spoils over track and trip three weeks ago and subsequent workouts indicate he’s made great strides and is ready to win.

NEWBURY

Race 1 No12 POLAR CLOUD (Each Way)
Trainer: Heather Main – Jockey: S Kirrane

POLAR CLOUD hasn’t done much wrong in four handicap outings but this Newcastle scorer should enjoy being switched back to turf. He appeared to be given far too much to do on a return visit to Gosforth Park last time, and without saying he was unlucky, he should have finished closer to the winner Civil Law. That was the grey’s third run in cheekpieces, which have undoubtedly benefitted him.

Race 3 No1 WILD BEAUTY (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Appleby – Jockey: William Buick

WILD BEAUTY can prove a match for River Pride in this fillies’ novice stakes. The daughter of Frankel is out of a Pivotal mare and is going to enjoy the cut in the ground, as was the case when she impressively opened her account at Haydock. A 6lb penalty may not be enough to impair her progress.

Race 7 No5 THE WATERMAN
Trainer: Tom Ward – Jockey: Tom Marquand

THE WATERMAN has looked a different article since being sent handicapping this year. After a good run in defeat on easy conditions at Salisbury, he dug deep to open his account at Wolverhampton. He’s taking on mainly older rivals but should have the measure of recent Windsor scorer Sweet Pursuit.

NEWTON ABBOT

Race 5 No5 UMNDENI
Trainer: Philip Hobbs – Jockey: Tom O’Brien

The best wagering opportunities lie at the end of this card, one of whom is UMNDENI. The seven-year-old was a dual scorer over hurdles in 2019 but has always promised to find his forte over fences. Two recent near-misses in handicap hurdles at Taunton and Worcester have teed him up nicely for this first run over the latter obstacles.

Race 6 No2 DESIGN ICON (Nap)
Trainer: Kim Bailey – Jockey: Ciaran Gethings

As the most lightly-raced runner in this, DESIGN ICON has the scope to improve. He’s progressed from race to race in only four career starts, battling for the spoils at Market Rasen, a run that makes him of serious interest now switching to handicaps. He can get the better of the similarly progressive Drumlee Watar.
