WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 4 No4 SUPERSPECIALAWESOME (Nap)
Trainer: Hugo Palmer – Jockey: Ross Coakley

SUPERSPECIALAWESOME can never live up to his name but in his favour is that he showed good track craft when opening his account at this course before Christmas. The Cotai Glory gelding was backed as if defeat was out of the question and made no mistake, thereby backing up his previous good efforts in defeat. He hails from a stable that has its runners pinging, and can carry on from where he left off.

Race 5 No5 BOBBY JOE LEG
Trainer: Ruth Carr – Jockey: Luke Morris

BOBBY JOE LEG has performed consistently well this year and looked like a horse ready to win again when second at Southwell last week. The nine-year-old competes off the same mark and another bold showing is in the offing.

CATTERICK BRIDGE

Race 1 No6 MR STRUTTER
Trainer: David Thompson – Jockey: Elle-May Croot

MR STRUTTER underwhelmed at Pontefract after a pleasing first run back at the same course. He will benefit from a strong pace in this race round one bend and though his rider is inexperienced the combination can swoop to conquer in the short home straight.

Race 6 No3 LANGHOLM
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez

LANGHOLM operates well at this track and after a couple of near misses is ready to strike. The Dark Angel gelding needs to overcome an outer draw, but knows every blade of grass from his recent visits and should make it third time lucky.

Race 7 No10 COUP DE GOLD (Each Way)
Trainer: David Thompson – Jockey: Harrison Shaw

The diminutive COUP DE GOLD hasn’t performed badly since switching back to the Flat, and though carded as one of the roughies should add to the earnings made with a series of placed runs at the course over hurdles.

SOUTHWELL

Race 2 No5 JAYTEE
Trainer: Ian Williams – Jockey: Brian Hughes

JAYTEE ran better than his finishing position indicates when fifth behind Duc De Beauchene at Wincanton. After being badly outpaced out in the country he stayed on out of picture from most watchers and would have made the frame in a few more strides. This consistent performer retains the cheek pieces that probably helped him on that occasion.

Race 5 No3 MIDNIGHT JEWEL (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Longsdon – Jockey: Lily Pinchin

MIDNIGHT JEWEL hardly ever fails to attract support as was the case for his latest successes at Fontwell and Bangor. After then falling at Stratford he posted a near miss at Hereford, but importantly he’s at his best when fresh from a break, and this is his first run since the autumn.

WINDSOR

Race 2 No2 ROCKIT TOMMY (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Mark Todd – Jockey: George Rooke

ROCKIT TOMMY overcame a lack of experience to post a minor upset on debut at Lingfield and on this switch to turf can follow up and prove it was no fluke. He readily put that race to bed when asked to go about his business, looking in the process a promising recruit.

Race 6 No6 SYDNEY MEWS
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

SYDNEY MEWS takes valuable experience of this figure-of-eight course to post having finished second on her concluding run in 2022 and again when chasing home a Godolphin hotpot at the end of last month. That filly Sunset Point wasn’t disgraced in the Lingfield Oaks Trial, and although the selection is a galloper that lacks a turf of foot, she can do plenty of damage to her foes before the finish of this mile-and-a-quarter distaffers’ race likely to be run in testing conditions.

Race 7 No4 NATIVE BEACH
Trainer: Sir Mark Todd – Jockey: George Rooke

NATIVE BEACH can prove a thorn in the side of multiple scorer Sparks Fly in this final race. The selection landed some good bets when breaking his maiden at Wolverhampton and ran a solid race on handicap bow when upped to an extended mile. Furthermore, his small but select stable has its horses in A1 order.
