GOODWOOD

Race 1 No3 DARKNESS (Each Way)
Trainer: David O’Meara – Jockey: Jason Watson

Formerly a Group-class performer in France, DARKNESS signalled with a narrow defeat by Spanish Star at Epsom that he’s on the cusp of a return to the winner’s circle. The five-year-old has kept good company since his migration to England, and this step down the class ladder offers up a best opportunity yet for him.

Race 3 No2 CALL GLORY (Nap)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Charles Bishop

CALL GLORY attracted plenty of support in plating company at Musselburgh but after being run off his legs in the early stages got going when it was all too late. This is an equally quick track, but after three outings he should have learned sufficient to cope with a trip that’s shorter than ideal. He can add to his stable’s good record in sellers here over the years.

Race 7 No7 SHOBIZ
Trainer: Charlie Hills – Jockey: William Buick

A tidy winner of a Newbury Class 3, SHOBIZ returns from a three-week break off a 4lb higher mark but looks the logical answer to the nightcap in which Indian Creak will prove a dangerous foe if on a going day.

BEVERLEY

Race 4 No4 NORTHCLIFF (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

NORTHCLIFF was all the rage to break his maiden at Catterick only to fall short. Now 0 from 11, he’s proving frustrating, but needs respect back handicapping with Quandary, Dickieburd and King’s Crown others worth including in exotic perms in a good betting heat.

Race 6 No1 AUSTRIAN THEORY (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Johnston – Jockey: Joe Fanning

AUSTRIAN THEORY posted a cracking win at Epsom last week from which he’s come out of the race well. A strongly made individual that can carry weight, he can go in again from his revised mark, having gained a confidence boost that was needed to bring out the best in him.

Race 7 No9 TIGERTEN (Each Way)
Trainer: Kevin Frost – Jockey: Harry Russell

The Nu Form Way and Fulfilled are recent scorers that need taking seriously, but better value lies in TIGERTEN, who after opening his account at Salisbury couldn’t quite hold off Blue Hawaii at Nottingham. Making his debut for his trainer, he’s shown himself to be a better horse on grass, and could easily have more to offer.

PERTH

Race 3 No2 VICTORY ECHO
Trainer: Maurice Barnes – Jockey: Conor Rabbitt

VICTORY ECHO has proved the flagship of his trainer’s small operation with decisive victories this spring at this course and Market Rasen. Since returning to fences the ten-year-old has looked like a new broom, and can make this a fourth chasing success in his last six starts.

Race 5 No4 LANDOFSMILES (Nap)
Trainer: Peter Bowen – Jockey: Robbie Dunne

LANDOFSMILES picked up an 8lb penalty after cruising to victory on his return from a lengthy absence at Uttoxeter. He’s clearly in the form of his life, and should follow up unless falling to the bounce factor, in which case Irish raider Ballykeel may take advantage.
