SEDGEFIELD

Race 1 No3 SILKSTONE
Trainer: D Brooke – Jockey: Emma Smith-Chaston

SILKSTONE saves his best for this course, as evidenced by a narrow defeat and a clear-cut success earlier in the month under the same conditional that’s in the hot seat today. The trait gives him a big advantage over some of his opponents, and he goes into the race with his tail up.

Race 5 No1 YUKON (Nap)
Trainer: James Moffat – Jockey: Charlotte Jones

YUKON was a 50-1 chance when scoring on his debut for his current handler and on jumps debut over course and distance last month. A well related individual, he can only improve for the experience and looks a solid betting entity to follow-up under a penalty.

Race 6 No4 WARRIORS STORY
Trainer: Nick Alexander – Jockey: Bruce Lynn

If there’s one capable of ending the winning sequence of Rocco Storm then WARRIORS STORY looks that horse. He brings good recent hurdling form to the table and is something of an unknown quantity now running in a handicap on his first outing over fences.

SOUTHWELL

Race 1 No2 DO IT FOR THY SEN
Trainer: Kerry Lee – Jockey: Richard Patrick

In a competitive opener the one that makes Abu dent appeal is DO IT FOR THEY SEN, who hails from a stable starting to get its act together. The eight-year-old landed some good bets with a game success over this course and distance back in the spring, and in the past year has figures of 11-5443421 which augers well for an earning run at the very least.

Race 5 No10 ENCASHMENT
Trainer: Ben Pauling – Jockey: Dylan Whelan

ENCASHMENT has an appealing look following a number of good earning runs and competing near the base of the weights in this novices’ handicap hurdle. The mare is yet to score in 13 outings for her bang-in-form trainer, but after an uncharacteristic unseat here last time, when she was favourite, can recoup those losses.

Race 6 No4 BLENKINSOP (Nap)
Trainer: Henry Daly – Jockey: Hugh Nugent

BLENKINSOP did us a good turn when landing a big gamble at Ludlow, where he seemed to have more in hand than the winning margin of a neck indicates. This is just a seventh ever run for the Nap, and only a second in handicap company, and he should have more to offer.

Race 7 No5 RELEASE THE KRAKEN
Trainer: Laura Morgan – Jockey: Patrick Cowley

Support for RELEASE THE KRAKEN on his chase debut last week went west, but connections are clearly keen to recoup the losses that forced the gelding into 11-10 favourite at Fakenham. He’d been a regular earner for his previous handler, and can now show his true merits in a first time visor.
