FONTWELL PARK

Race 4 No3 LUCKY ROSE
Trainer: Noel Williams – Jockey: James Davies

LUCKY ROSE earned in both runs in the summer season but with her proven ability to handle the soft can take away another cheque in this first division of the long distance handicap hurdle. The Soldier Of Fortune mare is also certain to get the trip and is less exposed than the majority of her opponents.

Race 7 No1 CALSHOT SPIT (Nap)
Trainer: Sheena West – Jockey: Marc Goldstein

CALSHOT SPIT ran into one when beaten by a horse from the Skelton yard at Stratford, but duly made no mistake when returned to the Flat at Bath, taking charge early in the straight and coming home unchallenged. That success was overdue, but has given the top weight a confidence boost and he should follow-up.

BEVERLEY

Race 3 No5 MADDELINA
Trainer: John Quinn – Jockey: Jason Hart

Sergei Prokofiev filly MADDELINA shaped well on her introduction when troubling the judge in Callisto Dream’s race at Carlisle. She appeared comfortable on the testing conditions, and in a similar scenario can progress to open her account.

Race 8 No8 HARDMAN (Nap)
Trainer: David Barron – Jockey: Donal Nolan

HARDMAN is well drawn for this low tier handicap run round a right-handed bend. The grey could hardly be in better form, having landed some good bets and come home unchallenged at Musselburgh. He looked good value for that success and can complete a hat-trick under a 6lb penalty.

WARWICK

Race 4 No6 JIMMY THE DIGGER (Each Way)
Trainer: Henry Daly – Jockey: Alice Stevens

JIMMY THE DIGGER was denied a run at Newton Abbot when the race was controversially cancelled owing to an unsuitable field size. He’s up against seven others in this long distance handicap chase, and while his 2023/24 season proved underwhelming, first time back could be the time to catch him.

Race 6 No5 HIGHLAND FROLIC (Each Way)
Trainer: Mark Rimell – Jockey: Gavin Sheehan

HIGHLAND FROLIC is fit from the Flat for this first run over hurdles in a year. Though out of the money on his latest outing on Polytrack, he’d previously earned in races at Doncaster and Nottingham and probably has more to give on what is only a fourth run since joining his trainer.

NEWCASTLE

Race 4 No5 ORANGE SKY ( Nap)
Trainer: George Boughey – Jockey: Billy Loughnane

Having experience of handling soft ground is of no use to ORANGE SKY as she switches to the Tapeta surface but the No Nay Never filly has tightened up since that Newbury introduction and can foil Titian Blue in what looks a strictly two horse affair.

Race 7 No10 ALIBI WARNING
Trainer: Richard Fahey – Jockey: Connor Murtagh

ALIBI WARNING has gone 32242 on her last five starts, and while an obvious pick for this second division of the seven furlongs handicap still needs to show she can put it to bed. That said, she hasn’t looked short in resilience and can belatedly open her account at the fourteenth attempt.

Place Accumulator Perm (Races 3-9)

2 x 5 x 3, 5 x 8, 4, 5 x 10, 4, 2 x 5, 2, 4 x 4, 1, 11
