CHEPSTOW
Race 1 No5 REDREDROBIN (Nap)
Trainer: Malcolm Saunders – Jockey: Callum Hutchinson
REDREDROBIN has found a new lease on life on her latest couple of starts, and after scoring over this course and distance was an unlucky last stride loser at Epsom, where after going clear her jockey had to cope with a slipping saddle. Sticking at his optimum trip of 1400 metres she should prove very hard to catch in a race that has cut up favourably.
Race 3 No1 PEARL OF WINDSOR
Trainer: Conrad Allen – Jockey: Darragh Keenan
PEARL OF WINDSOR enjoyed a first run over 1000 metres when zipping home at Sandown, having troubled the judge on her previous two starts at Grade 1 tracks, but over six furlongs. The daughter of Pinatubo can prove a vital cog in her trainer’s operation through the autumn, and is strongly fancied to go back-to-back against fellow winner Spherical.
Race 4 No3 CHARLIE MASON
Trainer: Tony Carroll – Jockey: William Carson
Having experimented with him trip-wise, CHARLIE MASON’s trainer saw the gelding raise his game when dropped back to sprinting at Kempton last month. Remaining at the 1200 metres distance, the three-year-old should prove too sprightly for his mainly older rivals.
SOUTHWELL
Race 1 No4 SAYTARR
Trainer: Charlie Fellowes – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez
SAYTARR suffered an agonising defeat at Ffos Las last week when in first-time cheek pieces he squandered a healthy lead to be caught on the post. The Mehmas colt enjoyed the easy conditions, and with the headgear retained should handle the very different Tapeta surface today, though from his outer draw, his rider might have to make use of him in order to get to the front.
Race 3 No5 EBEN ZAABEEL (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Hills – Jockey: Jim Crowley
It’s been a relatively quiet month for the Hills stable but I fancy it can profit in this long-distance novice with EBEN ZAABEEL. The Sea The Stars gelding made the frame on his last two starts over the mile and a half and returns from a short but freshening break, whilst bringing the best form on offer to the table.
Race 8 No6 KNYSA
Trainer: K P De Foy – Jockey: Benoit De La Sayette
Make Believe filly KNYSA is proving a good money spinner for her owners and seeks a seventh payday in as many outings for her handler. That sequence includes two successes at Kempton, while she ran well on her last visit to this course. All things being equal she is the one to beat.
NEWCASTLE
Race 5 No7 MACARONE (Nap)
Trainer: Craig Lidster – Jockey: Franny Norton
MACARONE takes the eye in pursuit of a first triumph in what has been a select campaign. Norton steered him to a success at this course on his final start of 2023 and retained the mount for his four subsequent outings on turf. Returning to Gosforth Park could prove just what the doctor ordered, as the selection looks weighted to put in a big run.
