GOODWOOD

Race 2 No6 LEADMAN (Each Way)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

LEADMAN might have proved expensive to follow since coming back from the injury list but the Kingman gelding needs affording another chance to outclass his foes. Turned over when odds-on for his first two outings on the all-weather, he traded short in running on his handicap bow at Sandown, only to run out of puff inside the final furlong. There was no disgrace on his eventual lengths and a quarter defeat by Darkness.

Race 3 No1 TIRIAC
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: David Probert

TIRIAC has a great chance to bounce back from a couple of below par efforts with underfoot conditions to suit in this sprint handicap. His form gradually regressed after his success and third placing at York earlier in the year, but most of his form was at Class2 level and now he’s in a Class4.

Race 4 No4 PASSION AND GLORY
Trainer: Saeed Bin Suroor – Jockey: Oisin Murphy

PASSION AND GLORY brings solid form to the table following his battling success at Ascot, since he was given a mid season break. The veteran has troubled the judge on both visits to this course in 2024 and at Listed level, making him a live threat to Botanical, who makes a first start for a new stable, while any support for Macduff would also interest me.

Race 5 No14 MANILA THRILLER (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Edward Greatrex

MANILA THRILLER is carded to start as one of the roughies in this distaffers’ Sales race, but on a class drop could outperform those odds. The Rumble Inthejungle filly has been unlucky not to have backed up her success in a Chester seller back in June, and was a 200-1 chance when finishing in the ruck in a Group 2 at Doncaster two weeks ago. She’s been in good form at home, and  deserves to pick up some black type.

Race 6 No1 COCO ROYALE (Nap)
Trainer: William Haggas – Jockey: Tom Marquand

COCO ROYALE might well have been defending a three-race unbeaten record this season if she’d been able to enjoy a breather in a Class 3 at Ascot but has completely dominated her two outings either side of that. This fillies’ handicap has cut up in her favour, and it will take something smart to reel her in.

REDCAR

Race 7 No8 SOUND REASON (Each Way)
Trainer: David O’Meara – Jockey: Silvestre De Sousa

SOUND REASON could well dominate this sprint handicap along with paper favourite Soul Seeker as the pair are drawn alongside each other. While Soul Seeker came home unchallenged at Sandown, Sound Reason was right in the thick of things when third at Leicester and is overdue a first success for his current trainer.

Race 8 No4 SAISONS D’OR (Each Way)
Trainer: Jedd O’Keeffe – Jockey: J Garritty

SAISONS D’OR has earned on nine of his last 11 outings, and though his three visits to this course have proved fruitless he’s got a great chance to claim a decent-sized cheque as he will relish the good ground and faces mainly out-of-form opponents.

PERTH

Race 1 No3 TOMMYS LAW (Nap)
Trainer: Lucinda Russell – Jockey: Derek Fox

TOMMYS LAW can make the best of the 7lb he receives from penalised Deploy To Spy in this novices’ hurdle. The selection has finished second in two points and as many hurdle races but is raring to go following his summer break.

Race 2 No8 MALANGEN (Each Way)
Trainer: Lisa Harrison – Jockey: Peter Kavanagh

MALANGEN rarely fails to trouble the judge on his visits here and although failing to earn on the latest a fortnight ago is fancied to bounce back. He can make this a fifth-course win, while respect is also afforded to Sauce Of Life, who returns from a long absence needing to show he’s retained his old ability.

Race 6 No9 HAPPY INDEX
Trainer: Olly Murphy – Jockey: Sean Bowen

HAPPY INDEX ran well to chase home State Of Honor on her first outing for her trainer at Fontwell and looks a well treated horse whose rating took a nosedive during a fruitless 2023/4 campaign. She’s among a strong team her trainer has brought north of the border but can prove to be one of its best.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 3 No1 MAGICAL TRAIL (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Appleby – Jockey: William Buick

MAGICAL TRAIL represents a Newmarket race that has worked out in this first division of the fillies’ maiden. The daughter of Blue Point enjoys the luxury of the rail in the turning 1200 metres contest, and can remain unbeaten at the main expense of the promising Speaktotheguvnor.

Race 8 No7 CRAFTY SPIRIT (Each Way)
Trainer: Clive Cox – Jockey: Rossa Ryan

CRAFTY SPIRIT looks the safest option after knocking on the door on his last three outings for a stable that’s going through a hot streak. He’s been beaten an aggregate of just two and a half lengths in those defeats and if enjoying the rub of the green in the straight can claim a second success at this track on which all five of his all-weather outings have happened.

Place Accumulator Perm (Races 2-8)

8, 4 x 1 x 7, 1, 2 x 2, 8 x 10, 2, 3 x 6, 1 x 7, 8
