Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips from UK Racing at Curragh and Epsom on Sunday 29th September.
Curragh Best Bets
Race 2 – No 6 JUNGLE COVE
Trainer: Jessica Harrington
Jockey: Shane Foley
Easily the most experienced in this maiden, JUNGLE COVE left the money behind when fourth to Sailing South at Listowel but had previously posted form that would be more than good enough to take these spoils. From a high draw that should prove favourable he can open his account.
Race 6 – No 24 SOINEANTA
Trainer: Jim Bolger
Jockey: Kevin Manning
The easy conditions should suit SOINEANTA in an admittedly tough maiden. She’s been a shade unlucky not to have won already and went down in a photo to Shehreen over seven furlongs at Galway earlier in the month. She shaped as if the step up to a mile is what she wants, and from her midfield draw her pilot has options.
Epsom Best Bets
Race 3 No 2 EXEC CHEF
Trainer: Jim Boyle
Jockey: Pat Cosgrave
Plenty of factors suggest locally trained EXEC CHEF can land what seems a weakly contested handicap. The 4yo discovered his best form at this time last season, upping his game in the soft. Furthermore he’s dropping down the class ladder and has tackled some very hot races including his midfield finish behind Caradoc at Newbury, which is a better run than it looks.
Race 6 No 7 ROVING MISSION
Trainer: Ralph Beckett
Jockey: Harry Bentley
ROVING MISSION is getting better race by race and as the only filly in this novice stakes can draw the 5lb sex allowance. She upped her game to chase home Tonyx at Salisbury and that more recent evidence than Edinburgh Castle’s pleasing Bath debut a year ago makes her the logical pick.
