UK Racing Tips - Thursday 4 July 2019

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Thursday’s racing at Newbury, Doncaster and Sandown.

Newbury Best Bets

Race 4: CHROMIUM (6)
Trainer: Mark Usher
Jockey: Hayley Turner

Representing a smaller yard, but one that should never be underestimated, CHROMIUM can cut the mustard at a decent price in this nursery. The selection brings valuable experience of the course to the table, having finished runner-up in a fillies-only race over the same six furlongs. That in itself gives her a definite legitimate chance of going one better.

Race 7: RAGSTONE VIEW (2)
Trainer: Rod Millman
Jockey: Oisin Murphy

Fresh from plundering the valuable Super Sprint here on Saturday, Millman can connect again with RAGSTONE VIEW. The selections steps back a tad on the distance ladder after scoring over a mile in a Class 5 earlier in the month but looked good value for that win and Murphy is an eye-catching booking for the 4yo.

Doncaster Best Bets

Race 5: LADY SCATTERLEY (3)
Trainer: Tim Easterby
Jockey: David Allan

LADY SCATTERLEY is getting better with racing and needs another step forward but she arrives here in better form than most. Her recent second to Kwanza at Pontefract came in a maiden handicap but interestingly none of her rivals are winners. Furthermore, she hails from a stable that is doing well with its 3yo handicappers.

Race 7: ALUQAIR (3)
Trainer: Simon Crisford
Jockey: Gerald Mosse

Veteran French pilot Moses is an asset to the chances of ALUQAIR who compromised his prospects of going from gate to wire by running wide on the homeward turn of his latest start at Chelmsford. It’s doubtful that it cost him as much ground as the three and a half lengths he was ultimately beaten by, but it’s solid form to bring into this weak novice stakes.

Sandown Best Bets

Race 2: RHEA (2)
Trainer: Kevin Ryan
Jockey: Andrea Atzeni

RHEA is among a quartet of fillies in this Listed race that made a taking impression when scoring on debut, but the quality of her form from Haydock back in May points to her being potentially the best. On that occasion she picked up stylishly to beat Perfect Rose and the form was boosted by the subsequent win of the third.

Race 6: QUARRY BEACH (5)
Trainer: Henry Candy
Jockey: David Probert

Although not able to live up to her home reputation at two, QUARRY BEACH returned with a satisfactory effort to chase home stablemate Canal Rocks at Newbury. The fourth in that race has won subsequently while the selection delighted her trainer in her winding up gallop for this.
