Magic Tips Preview
CAPTAIN’S CAUSEWAY acquitted himself fairly well despite not having a preparation outing leading up to the Grade 1 contest at Scottsville late last month.
The Tarry inmate has a bit to find with a few of tonight’s rivals but will be fitter and certainly has the class to pull this off.
The son of Captain Al has track experience which should prove crucial.
The local BARBOSA rolled back the years with a solid last effort in the same event as the top selection and the Drier inmate should again be competitive tonight.
The Cape visitor SEARCH PARTY represents the man of the moment Brett Crawford and is his jockey’s solitary ride on the card.
The bay gelding fared best of all when he ran on for 2nd in the Scottsville Grade 1 last month and despite being 1kg worse off with BARBOSA, he holds an excellent record over this distance and merits strong consideration.
The obvious concern is that he races on this tight circuit for the first time and is yet to experience racing under the lights.
The other Cape visitor who also races under the lights for the first time is the vastly improved imported gelding PROFESSOR BRIAN who is searching for a six-timer but this is his acid test.
