Interestingly, he finished narrowly in front of Constantine (runs in previous race) over this c & d last month but shoulders 2kgs lesser than that rival in a similar event. This son of King Of Kings is his stable’s only representative on the card.

The Cape visitor JO’S BOND has had a successful campaign and she produced the run of her career when tiring late into a most creditable 4th at the highest level over this distance at Kenilworth on Met Day. The daughter of Captain Al picked up the expected hefty penalty for her performance but she is best in at the weights on official ratings on her local debut and should go close. Furthermore, she is her jockey and trainer’s solitary entrant on the card.

Jockey: A DELPECH – Trainer: D KANNEMEYER
The well-related SUMMER SKY has shown promise from day one and the fitting of blinkers made the difference when the Kannemeyer inmate eventually got up to win his last start at Kenilworth in the Spring. He was gelded a mere six days later and now returns from a deserved 18-week absence. The son of Trippi appears progressive and he is handily weighted on his local debut. His good draw is a major plus.

Jockey: K DE MELO – Trainer: D C HOWELLS
LA SUERTE DE MATAR has continued her rehabilitation after the lengthy absence and she posted a smart handicap debut performance down the straight last month. The Toreador mare ran on well for 3rd in a competitive low-key handicap and she will relish today’s extra furlong. The inmate from the Howells yard has experience around the turn and her pole barrier position is a major asset.
Race 1: SCOTCH BRIAR(1)
SCOTCH BRIAR returned to form when running on for 2nd over ten furlongs on the polytrack recently and he was in turn, exactly five lengths clear of the next placed runner. Interestingly, both his career best performances came with jockey Brown in the saddle but this well-bred son of Ideal World is expected to love today’s rise in distance and he clearly has more to offer. He had one fair effort over shorter on this course and can get much closer to the long-time maiden SHINE UP who was runner-up in that same event.
