Winning Form Best Bets
Race 1: CINEMA SCOPE(1)
Race 4: LADY JADE(2)
Race 7: SHOWMETHEWAY(1)
Race 8: KNIGHT TO REMEMBER(2)
Race 4: OCTAVIA(1)
Jockey: Sean CORMACK – Trainer: Dennis DRIER
OCTAVIA was coming nicely to hand before she suffered a major setback, almost a year ago, and she hasn’t been seen since. The daughter of Jet Master has obvious ability and met two top quality sorts when third over this c & d in her penultimate outing. She may need a few runs to get her back to her level best but she meets an ordinary field and could still take some beating, if she is able to reproduce that penultimate performance. Her trainer knows exactly how to bring his charges back fit and well from a break.
Race 5: WOODSTOCK EXPRESS – TOP BET (13)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Sean TARRY
WOODSTOCK EXPRESS built on his moderate debut when he stayed on nicely for a close fourth over the mile at Clairwood, two weeks ago. He has been fancied in the betting market in both those runs so is obviously showing good work back home. Unfortunately, he has the nasty tendency to be slow into stride but today’s extra distance will suit him perfectly. He made his debut on this track so with that experience, he should take a power of beating today.
Race 9: BLACK IS BLACK(4)
Jockey: Alec FORBES – Trainer: Alistair GORDON
BLACK IS BLACK has been a tad disappointing in her last few starts but she would have benefitted from the 19 week break. She no doubt needed her comeback run over six furlongs, three weeks ago, and she will strip much fitter today. The daughter of Black Minnaloushe always showed above average ability and she has only been beaten once from three starts on this course. She also has a decent c & d record and is competitively weighted here. She should give a very good account of herself on her home track.
Race 10: TAARISH(4)
TAARISH had three fair runs last season but often got into his races far too late. His conditioner obviously expects better from the son of Encosta De Lago and he was given the unkindest cut of all during his ten week break. He could have lots of improvement to come and it will be interesting to see if he has shaken off the nasty tendency to concede ground at the start. He races fresh so the drop in trip won’t be an issue and he is drawn in pole position.
VALUE BET FOR TODAY:
Race 3: RAD ROCK(3) (Each Way)
Jockey: Jose BARNES – Trainer: Pat LUNN
This is a moderate contest and an upset is likely. RAD ROCK kept her form in her last two starts over seven furlongs but she reverts to sprinting today and that could be exactly what she needs. She had some useful earlier form over this c & d and her trainer has once again engaged a 4kgs claiming apprentice on the daughter of Stronghold. She has had numerous chances but she is favourably drawn and can pull this off.
