RACE 1
SKY GEM has placed in both of his comeback efforts. He was only beaten 2.5L at the wire last time out and despite shouldering top weight he merits healthy respect in the opening contest. It is encouraging that Moreira has kept faith in the ride. ENJOYABLE SUCCESS was 1.5L behind the top selection last time out and he may have to settle for the same result. FORTUNE PATROL is looking in need of the extra ground on offer. He prefers racing at Sha Tin and can run into the money.
RACE 2
MORE THAN ENOUGH is a useful sort. He made good late progress in his last outing on this track when beaten 1L by All For St Paul’s. If he can put his best foot forward again then he should be picking off the frontrunners in the dash down to the line. MARVELOUS FANS wasn’t disgraced in his debut effort. He was only beaten by 3L and is still relatively unexposed. NORDIC WARRIOR was only beaten a long-neck by Charge On and repeating that type of effort then he can run into the places.
RACE 3
COMPUTER PATCH won the Grade 3 National Cup Day in fine style. He meets a classy field though and will need to bring his A-game to the races. He shoulders a light weight which will be in his favour and he can make it back-to-back wins under these conditions. HOT KING PRAWN is the class in the race and he will have plenty of followers. He returns from a break and if fit then he should be a strong contender in this Grade 2 Event. PERFECT MATCH has four wins from his last seven outings and is clearly improving with maturity. He is a Class 1 winner and he should have no issues stepping into this grade.
RACE 4
SEAWEED FORTUNE followed up his comeback win with a decent effort when only beaten 2.5L by Angel Of My Eyes. He should be cherry-ripe for this contest and can find himself back in the winner’s enclosure. CIRCUIT NUMBER ONE had a fair comeback run when beat 2L by Light my Day. He has been beaten by METHANE in the past though and this pair could be the biggest dangers to the top selection.
RACE 5
DIAMOND PEGASUS was a narrow winner of his last start. He got up in the shadow of the post that day to defeat Jade Phoenix by a nose. He shoulders a handy galloping weight in the fifth race and could make it back-to-back victories. SUPER RED DRAGON has finished runner-up in his last two outings. He looks an obvious threat on paper and is next win looks on the horizon. HONEST WAY showed signs of needing his comeback run. He should strip a fitter horse and can run into the places.
RACE 6
SUNNY AND GOLD finished close up in his last outing. He was only beaten 1.75L by Sparkling Dolphin on that occasion. He tries the all-weather track for the first time and if taking to the surface then he should be a tough nut to crack in the sixth race. FORTUNE HAPPINESS has finished runner-up in his last two outings after the break. He was no match for the winner in both of those efforts but he looks fairly handicapped in this contest. RESOLUTE returns from a break and if fit he has the form to run into the money.
RACE 7
GOLDEN SIXTY has won his last eight starts. He is an absolutely superb thoroughbred that will renew his rivalry with BEAUTY GENERATION. The pair were only separated by 1.75L in their last start and the weights suggest that they should finish much closer together in this Grade 2 event. DANCES WITH DRAGON has FURORE held on their last meeting. He has some ability but will find it tough getting past the top duo.
RACE 8
WILL POWER is the best bet on the card. He won impressively in his comeback run and drew clear in the closing stages which was very encouraging. He performs well for Karis Teetan and there looks to be plenty more to come from this individual throughout the season. CALIFORNIA CONCORD fought gamely in a three-way battle last time out when a narrow winner. He was his own worst enemy on that occasion as he hung in the straight. If keeping on a straight line then he should be able to pose a threat to the top selection. MEGA HEART showed signs of needing his comeback run badly and if putting his best foot forward then he can run into the money.
RACE 9
WINNING DREAMER is unbeaten and is one of the better bets on the card. He is a classy prospect who is clearly ahead of the handicapper at this stage of his career. He takes on a decent sort in the form of SCORES OF FUN who is also unbeaten. Both of his victories have been by the narrowest of margins but he will be looking to keep that unbeaten record intact. CHICKEN DANCE finished 1.5L behind the top selection last time. He is 3.5kgs better off at the weights which may be enough to turn the tables if putting his best foot forward.
RACE 10
PRESIDENT’S CHOICE represents decent each-way value for Hong Kong racing pundits. He came back to his best last time out under Zac Purton and it is encouraging that he has kept faith in the ride. This is a competitive field but he still looks to be ahead of the handicapper at this stage of his career. CIRCUIT HASSLER ran on from far back last time to make it back-to-back wins. He jumps from an outside barrier but if he can get some cover in the race then he will be able to reel off the hat-trick. HEZA BEAUTY was a bit unlucky last time out as he got cramped for room at the 400m mark. He still managed to make good ground up the middle of the track and should strip a fitter horse in the lucky last race.
