Race 6.

TANGO STEPZ is a 5yr mare taking on the boys, but she moved up on the turn before finishing strongly to win her last start over five furlongs by a short-head. She was returning from a 12 week rest that day and from a handy draw three, she should give the males a good run for their money.

NICCOLON is drawn one inside the top choice and has consistent formlines to his name. He was only run out of it late when ending up in second place last time out over 1100M, 1.2L behind the winner. The gelding has his peak run after returning from a 14 week break and should turn in another honest performance today.

VITAL VERSE raced up with the pace when winning his maiden race last time out over 1300M by just over a length and a half and was immediately rested for 18 weeks. The form of that race has been franked and he returns here without having had the benefit of a barrier trial, so his fitness will have to be taken on trust. He is drawn the widest of them all in gate fourteen, but the blinkers are removed for the first time and he may well do better as a result.

Race 7.

This looks to be a tricky race with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. UNRESTRICTED followed up his penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a disappointing eleventh place finish last time out over seven furlongs, 7.6L adrift of the winner, but the form of that race has stood up well with five runners out of that contest subsequently winning. He has his first run since a 23 week absence, but did win his only barrier trial to showcase his well-being. He faces a wide gate ten, but he is a speedy sort who should be able to move across without expending too much energy.

UNIFICATION won his maiden race over six furlongs by 0.7L from the front and from a kinder gate six, he is likely to adopt similar tactics today.

Although MISSILE RAIN is recorded as finishing eleventh in her last outing over five furlongs, she was only just over three lengths off the winner when making good late progress. She is a 5yr old mare taking on males and is stuck out wide in gate twelve, but she should be doing her best work late.

Race 8.

FROM THE BUSH is going for his hat-trick after wins over seven furlongs and the latest over this trip by 0.8L. He kicked clear of the opposition at the 200M mark that day and then fought off all the late challengers over the latter stages. He faces a wideish draw eight, but the manner in which he finished off his last race, could make him hard to topple here and he is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

He does renew his rivalry with REWARD SEEKER who finished second in the race mentioned above. The latter finished his race off well and is in fact 3kgs better off at today’s weights, which would normally be enough for that form to be reversed, but even though drawn better in gate four, he may have to settle for the same result.

MACKELLAR’S LOVE is an 8yr old mare taking on boys, but she has cracked pole position and showed marked improvement when battling all the way down to the wire to end up in second spot last time out over 1300M, a length behind the winner. She should be involved in the finish here.

Race 9.

The day’s value bet, BLACKADDER raced just behind the leader and then looked a possible winner when hitting the front halfway down the straight before being outrun late to finish fourth over 1420M, 1.8L back from the winner and seems sure to enjoy the drop in trip. He jumps from gate five and will have 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice to aid his cause.

DESHAWN has consistent formlines to his credit, having won his penultimate start over 1100M and then finishing second in his last outing over 1375M, failing by just a neck, despite being bumped at the start. He has pulled draw eight and should be right up there in the firing line.

DUSKY DAMSEL is a 6yr old mare taking on the boys and tried to go from gun to tape before finishing fourth last time out over seven furlongs, three lengths adrift of the victor. She has a kinder gate two and should make her presence felt in this contest.
