Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: FLYING CARPET (1)
Jockey: C  Habib – Trainer: S Tarry

FLYING CARPET was given a peach of a ride when winning the Grade 1 WSB Gauteng Summer Cup last time. He quickened up well and fought hard all the way to the line. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He carries a big mass of 61kgs, but is in a very good space and should notch up his fourth career victory.

Flying Carpet

Race 3: INSATIABLE (5)
Jockey: K de Melo – Trainer: J Janse van Vuuren

INSATIABLE has finished second in both her career efforts to date. She showed good speed last time, but found one too good in the form of Lucy English. The daughter of Querari returns from a 14-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. She meets the right field today and if not in need of the run, she should find herself in the winner’s enclosure.

Top Bet For Today

Race 6: MIKE’S CHICK (2)
Jockey: K de Melo – Trainer: M de Kock

MIKE’S CHICK followed up her comfortable maiden victory with an impressive win over 1600m on the Inside course. Perfect Witness has won and finished second in a Grade 2 since. The daughter of Vercingetorix has plenty of class about her and should take a power of beating.

VIRGINIA BEACH

Race 8: SOUTHERN BLAZE (10)
Jockey: D de Gouveia – Trainer: S Pettigrew

SOUTHERN BLAZE produced a promising debut effort over this distance at the Vaal, five weeks ago. He was slow into stride but once finding his feet, he finished his race off well. The son of Global View would have gained from the experience and should make the natural improvement. If not too green around the turn, he can shed his maiden tag.

Value Bet For Today

Race 7: KWITE A TRIP (11)
Jockey: J Syster – Trainer: P Peter

KWITE A TRIP finished 3.15 lengths behind ALESIAN CHIEF last time. He is 7kgs better off at the weights this afternoon and that is enough for the tables to be turned. He has won five times, finished second twice and third once from eleven starts over this distance. With just 52.5kgs on his back, he can return to winning ways.
