Nottingham Best Bets

Neil Morrice brings you his Best Bets for the turf card at Nottingham on Thursday, August 1

Race 2 – No 6 SPIRITOFTHENORTH
Trainer: Kevin Ryan
Jockey: Tom Eaves

SPIRITOFTHENORTH outran his place as an unconsidered roughie on debut at Pontefract, surrendering the lead but then doing his best work at the finish in third behind Tomfre. The nature of that performance will have helped the selection learn a lot and he can open his account on the way to better things.

Race 5 – No 4 HATS OFF TO LARRY
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: Callum Shepherd

Since scoring on his reappearance at Chester HATS OFF TO LARRY has posted three near misses and ran into the useful Mandarin at Windsor last time. He was heavily backed and travelled beautifully only to be done for pace in the closing stages. He’s a smart handicapper in the making and should return to winning ways.

Goodwood

Thursday the 31st of July 2019 is Day 3 of the Glorious Goodwood Festival. Analyst Neil Morrice gives a run through of the features on the day, as well as his best bets for each race. This includes the Qatar Nassau Stakes and the Richmond Stakes. Click here.

Ffos Las Best Bets

Neil Morrice brings you his Best Bets for the turf action from Ffos Las on Thursday, August 1

Race 1 – No 1 SIR ARTHUR DAYNE
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: Charles Bishop

When a two-year-old wins by nine lengths the handicapper can take action and it’s no surprise to see Lingfield scorer SIR ARTHUR DAYNE making a quick reappearance under a penalty. He’s always been well regarded at West Ilsley but was too green to do himself justice on his first two starts. Now that the penny has dropped he looks like a shoe in in this company.

Race 5 – No 4 THE GAME IS ON
Trainer: Sir Mark Prescott
Jockey: Luke Morris

A similar scenario with THE GAME IS ON who can make a quick strike under a penalty after strolling home at Bath last week. His trainer is a master at placing horses like this to run up sequences and this fellow can prove a case in point.

Epsom Best Bets

Neil Morrice brings you his Best Bets for the turf action from Epsom on Thursday, August 1

Race 4 – No 5 ZORAYA
Trainer: Paul Cole
Jockey: David Probert

A flood of late cash for ZORAYA went west at Chepstow last week when a slow start compromised her chances and she was beaten a length and a quarter into third by Dream World. If connections wish to recapture the losses this looks an equally good opportunity in almost identical circumstances.

(Nap)
Race 5 – No 4 CITY WANDERER
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: Silvestre de Sousa

The bang in form CITY WANDERER looks the best bet of the night and can complete a hat-trick. He did himself a favour by hanging and ultimately winning his race in the last few strides at Chester last month, thereby avoiding more severe treatment from the assessor. All things being equal, he should have no problem putting these rivals to the sword.
