UK Racing Tips - Thursday 29 August 2019

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Thursday’s racing at Carlisle, Chelmsford, Ffos Las, Fontwell and Sedgefield.

Carlisle Best Bet

Race 2: BLACK CASPIAN (3)
Trainer: Kevin Ryan
Jockey: Tom Eaves

Several in this Novice Stakes should improve on what they’ve done so far but with two outings under his belt, BLACK CASPIAN is now cherry ripe to oblige. He was a 20-1 roughie when chasing home Lord Of The Lodge at Haydock and that form received a notable boost when the winner went on to finish second in the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes at York.

Race 7: MURAADEF  (13)
Trainer: Ruth Carr
Jockey: James Sullivan

Ground conditions look ideal for MURAADEF to post an overdue success. He’s taken a tumble in the weights and put in a career-best to chase home Dawn Breaking over this course and distance on his latest start. He’s getting plenty of weight from most of his foes and can use his track craft to prevail.

Chelmsford Best Bets

Race 1: INCOGNITO (3)
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: James Doyle

On her first run on Polytrack INCOGNITO should endorse the promise she’s shown in her last three starts. She didn’t enjoy the rub of the green when getting trapped on the inside rail at Newmarket last month before finishing just out of the money in a warm fillies’ maiden at Goodwood. When fourth to Erin at Salisbury last time she didn’t do much wrong, and this rates her best winning chance yet, with Doyle an interesting and potentially significant jockey booking.

Race 5: KING POWER (2)
Trainer: Andrew Balding
Jockey: James Doyle

Stepping up to this mile and threequarters trip looks just what the doctored ordered for KING POWER, a beautifully bred filly by Frankel who takes a missive class drop after contesting the Italian Oaks last time. She had earlier tackled the Oaks Trial at Lingfield. This is a straightforward looking heat and she should convert.

Ffos Las Best Bets

Race 4: VULCAN (10)
Trainer: Harry Dunlop
Jockey: Oisin Murphy

When last seen back in June, VULCAN put in an eyecatching effort to place behind the high class Positive at Salisbury. He was detached early on but made up ground when the penny dropped. He will obtain a handicap mark after this but is worth chancing as a value alternative to It’s Good To Laugh.

Race 7: ALL RIGHT (10)
Trainer: Henry Candy
Jockey: Dane O’Neill

If her Yarmouth win of three weeks ago has boosted her confidence levels, ALL RIGHT could go in again. Before that she’d shown a tendency not to find as much off the bridle as promised, but last time she was well supported and kept going strongly when given the office. Further to her winning chance is the presence of Dane O’Neill, who doesn’t ride many of the Candy horses these days.

Fontwell Best Bets

Race 7: DO YOU KNOW WHAT
Trainer: Dan Skelton
Jockey: Harry Skelton

DO YOU KNOW WHAT appeals as the most progressive horse in the nightcap, trying to build on a cosy triumph over commander Miller at Worcester. The six-year-old tied up on the Flat that day after going clear when asked to quicken two flights out and might be delivered later this time.

Sedgefield Best Bets

Race 5: DESERT POINT (1)
Trainer: Keith Dalgleish
Jockey: Brian Hughes

Connections of DESERT POINT are looking to strike while the iron is hot, with the top weight out to follow-up his smooth Southwell win when he came home unchallenged. A 7lb penalty shouldn’t prevent him from staging a repeat.
