NEWMARKET

Race 1 – SILVER LADY 9/2

SILVER LADY has not raced since May but can make her mark on her return in the Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai British EBF Rosemary Stakes.

First-time hood is now fitted and this will hopefully see her settle better. If doing so could produce a bold bid for Charlie Appleby’s yard which is in excellent form.

Race 2 – SEA THEME 5/1

SEA THEME proved game in winning the Listed Galtres Stakes and a move to Group Three company looks within her compass in the Princess Royal Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Stakes.

Dropping in class Novakai provides the main threat. The Karl Burke-trained filly put her head back in front tackling the Listed Aphrodite Stakes on the July course and did little wrong when seventh in the G1 Yorkshire Oaks tackling this trip last month.

Running Lion bounced back from her disappointment in the G1 Prix de Diane to finish runner-up among Listed company at Salisbury.

The Gosden-trained filly created a big impression winning the Listed Pretty Polly Stakes here earlier in the season and remains a fascinating contender.

Race 3 – SHUWARI 33/20

SHUWARI can extend her winning run to three in the Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Rockfel Stakes.

Ollie Sangster’s filly boasts an outstanding piece of form having beaten subsequent Group One winner Fallen Angel on her most recent run in the Listed Star Stakes at Sandown back in July.

The daughter of New Bay arrived there with a fast ground debut win to her name and showed her versatility in terms of conditions when fending off Fallen Angel by half a length, looking as though there was a still a bit to come.

She will have to improve if the ratings are to be taken at face value as Ylang Ylang is 6lb her superior, but Aidan O’Brien’s challenger was disappointing in the Moyglare and Shuwari makes more appeal.

Race 4 – EPICTETUS 7/1

EPICTETUS is on something of a retrieval mission for John and Thady Gosden after letting down favourite-backers at Goodwood last month.

It appeared connections had found the key to the Kingman colt in dropping back to a mile at the Glorious meeting at the start of August, where he accounted for the one-time Classic hope Nostrum by a length.

Returned to Goodwood for the Celebration Mile, Epictetus enjoyed a less-than-ideal run, finding his route blocked on a couple of occasions and eventually coming home fifth, beaten just under five lengths.

His rider that day, Kieran O’Neill, felt the soft ground was against his mount and with Frankie Dettori taking the reins again, Epictetus might enjoy more suitable conditions at Headquarters.

Race 5 – ACCUMULATE 33/20

There was plenty to like about ACCUMULATE debuting with a second at Ascot earlier in the month.

The winner that day has followed up since under a penalty giving form substance and Roger Varian landed this contest twelve months ago, so could do so once more.

Newcomer Symbol Of Power makes for obvious appeal on paper representing top connections.

Zain Blue and Native Warrior should also be considered.

Race 6 – BROADWAY ACT 33/20

BROADWAY ACT filled the runner-up spot on both starts to date tackling this trip on the July Course.

The Charlie Appleby yard is hitting top stride and this well-related son of Too Darn Hot can put his experience to good use.

Aidan O’Brien trains Sea The Stars newcomer Psalm who holds an entry in the G1 Dewhurst Stakes and must be taken seriously.

Kingman colt Markoon cannot be left out of the equation on debut, while Placo PLACO should be on the shortlist.

Race 7 – LION’S PRIDE 2/1

LION’S PRIDE was hailed by Gosden senior as his best progeny of Roaring Lion earlier in the season and the colt gets another chance to live up to that moniker in the Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Godolphin Stakes.

His current rating of 106 means he is no slouch, but he is yet to reach star status in three starts to date.

Second on his first attempt at Newcastle back in May, Lion’s Pride opened his account at Kempton in July, easily beating subsequent Melrose winner and stablemate Middle Earth with another winner back in third.

Stepped up to Listed level at Windsor, he was not disgraced in finishing a length behind the reopposing Candleford in a race that probably was not really run to suit him.

Lion’s Pride gets an extra 2lb from that rival this time and looks a runner on the up, with connections having resisted the temptation to go for the St Leger.

Race 8 – CRACK SHOT 33/20

Raised 6lbs after winning over one mile at Newbury looks lenient for CRACK SHOT who can follow up.

There could be improvement to come from Real Gain who stayed on well to finish third at York making his handicap debut.

Others warranting consideration include previous course winner Bodorgan and Baltimore Boy.

HAYDOCK PARK

Race 1 – BARNEY’S ANGEL 13/10

BARNEY’S ANGEL ran on strongly to score over at Windsor towards the beginning of the month. Joe Leavy negates the rise in weights and can win again.

Mistress Lights improved with a fourth at Chepstow wearing first-time cheekpieces. Interesting now handicapping under a young apprentice.
Kells and Western Stars can’t be discounted.

Race 4 -HEDGE FUND 9/4

Dropping back to five furlongs actually looked to bring about some improvement from HEDGE FUND who followed up his Wolverhampton handicap debut success with a commanding win at Ffos Las.

The 8lbs rise in weights will demand more, however, he looks progressive and could prove equal to the task.

Due For Luck surrendered his unbeaten record going down by a head on nursery debut tackling 5f at Chester and holds strong claims up 2lbs.

Race 5 – CIRCUIT BREAKER 33/20

This stiffer stamina test saw CRICUIT BREAKER improve landing a 2m handicap at Kempton.

The Ralph Beckett-trained gelding drops back to one and three-quarter miles however with testing conditions forecast he can make good use of his extra stamina and follow up that recent decisive success.

Miller Spirit stayed on tackling soft ground to score at Sandown and with further improvement anticipated stepping up in trip he may give a bold sight under a 6lbs penalty.

Urban Outlook and Flower Of Dubai will both be in the mix.

Race 7 – PEARL EYE 7/2

PEARL EYE encountered the seasonal hat-trick chasing Bear On The Loose when runner-up at Chester and probably wasn’t best suited by the way the race panned out.

But progressive Darryll Holland trained three-year-old will find conditions no bother and another forward showing is anticipated.
Beccara Rose scored attempting a one-mile maiden at Kempton and can remain competitive back among handicap company up 1lbs.

Two-time course winner Liamarty Dreams would be dangerous if allowed to dictate matters out in front, while Shahbaz holds each-way claims.
