BATH

Race 1 – BEGGARMAN 4/1

BEGGARMAN struggled in a higher grade last start. Finished second here on his previous two outings. Still a turf maiden but races from 10lbs below his peak AW winning mark. Solid claims.

Hat-trick bidding Asense will have no stamina worries and is just 1lbs higher than when winning here in latest. It’s How We Roll won at this course for a previous yard. Could go well on stable debut if stamina holds.

Race 2 – DALLAS STAR 9/4

DALLAS STAR was a 2.75L eighth among Listed company at Royal Ascot. Finished third in two other starts and his pedigree indicates this step up to 1m will suit. Leading player. Hot Fuss is respected as the highest rated runner in the line up.

Was three places ahead of the main selection at Ascot but stamina for this test looked suspect in latest. Calvert placed at this trip on both starts so far. Each-way claims. Newcomer Flowering represents a stable that does well here. Watch the market.

Race 5 – NEWPORT BAY 13/2

NEWPORT BAY can start slowly but is by a sire whose progeny act on slower ground. Receiving a workable mark holds claims if breaking on terms. Goodeveningmrbond was a winner over 5f at Chepstow (good to soft) two runs ago.

Held since but this looks more suitable. Whoop Whoop is admirably consistent though did perform below expectations the last time she tackled an easy surface. Whiteley Way has been absent since mid-July. Might prove a threat on handicap debut.

Race 8 – ORANGE MARTINI 9/2

ORANGE MARTINI dropped 1lbs since finishing third at Chester in May. Subsequent absence is a worry but her dam relished soft ground and she could have more to offer. Mambo Beat struggled prior to a July 1 ¼m Ffos Las win.

Easy underfoot conditions no issue and a 4lbs rise looks fair. Miss Dolly Rocker was second in a course and distance maiden before winning at Nottingham. Second from this mark since. Respect.

NEWCASTLE

Race 1 – SHOWTIME MAHOMES 33/10

Abruzzo Mia returned from a break finding success by 1.75L over course and distance last month. Rates a chance to follow up. Power of Darkness was a winner by a short-head on turf recently but is yet to score attempting AW.

Could prove competitive. SHOWTIME MAHOMES ended a long losing streak scoring by a neck last time and remains well weighted. Yoshimi placed in two runs since a victory and could get involved again.

Race 3 – CONCORDE 2/1

CONCORDE has won three of his past four starts including a 1.25L success last month. Yet to win on the AW but holds leading claims. Vaguely Royal found success in a maiden during June but struggled in a couple of handicaps since. Makes debut on AW and not to be discounted.

Savvy Knight finished second over course and distance two runs back and held excuses when well beaten next time. Consider revisiting this track. Chillhi is another worth giving another chance revisiting this surface.

Race 5 – TROPICAL AIR 67/100

TROPICAL AIR has won his past two starts which have both come over 7f on the AW. Drops back in trip but could complete a hat-trick on first run at this track. Socialise was beaten 6L fourth on his AW debut tackling 7f.

Interesting revisiting this distance. Unowho was below his best attempting 5f. Can be given another chance at this journey. Rock Lodge is unplaced in five starts but recent fifth was a step in the right direction.

Race 8 – INTOXICATA 28/10

Girl From Italy placed both AW runs including when beaten 1L second over course and distance last time. Could make the breakthrough. INTOXICATA returned to form when second on the AW and might go well if running to that level.

Pop Favourite is a three-time course and distance winner who warrants respect back at this track. Jewel of Kabeir holds place claims judged on recent turf form.
