The bay colt escaped without a penalty for his exertions and he should easily handle this extra furlong. He receives some handy weight from his rivals and is a major contender with top jockey Yeni retaining the ride.

CATHEDRAL COUNTY is a smart and improving type who bounced back to best with an expected c & d victory last time out. He was raised four pounds for his exertions but still has much more to offer and he should handle today’s rise in class. The bay gelding is favourably drawn. The top weight is the bay mare LADY STARLETT who continued her good form as she ran on eye-catchingly for 3rd in a recent Grade 3 contest at Turffontein.
