Race 5.

LAWYER’S DELIGHT goes for his hat-trick after two victories over seven furlongs, the latest by one and a half lengths. He hit the front at the 200M mark that day and was eased down over the final stages, so that margin could have been far greater than the official gap. He gets a handy draw two and has his peak run after returning from a 30 week break and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

SEBRING’S ROSE is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she was slow away and then had to be held up between the 400M and 150M marks before ending up in fourth place last time out over 1300M, two and a half lengths behind the winner. She gets gate six and will have her peak run after returning from a shorter 12 week rest and could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice.

THE MAXINATOR came three wide into the home straight, but stayed on well to finish fourth in his latest outing over seven furlongs, one length back from the victor. He has cracked pole position and will have 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice to aid his cause.

Race 6.

There are eleven unraced runners in the field, so as is always the case in these types of races, a keen eye should be kept on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether any of the connection believe that they can win first time out. Any betting support for a runner or runners should be respected. Of the raced runners NOMARA may prove to be the best. She is a 2yr old filly taking on older boys, but she finished a short-head second on debut over five furlongs, despite being friendless in the betting markets. She has pulled a wideish gate seven, but would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, she could be the one that they all have to beat.

JOYZEL is a 3yr old filly who showed solid improvement last time out when dropping down to today’s sprint trip, beaten by just a neck. She was returning from a 20 week rest that day and finished off her race well. She gets the services of ex-SA jockey Brandon Lerena and he is sure to make good use of pole position.

RUBIGAL is the stable companion to the top choice and is another 3yr old filly in the race. She raced wide throughout when ending up in fifth place last time out over 1100M, four and a half lengths behind the winner, but the form of that race has stood up well with three runners out of that contest subsequently winning. She gets draw six and returns from a 20 week rest, but has had the two barrier trials, finishing fourth in the first and third in the latest and makes a solid back-up for the yard.

Race 7.

As with the previous race, there are a number of unraced runners in this contest, so the same comment in respect of keeping an eye on the betting moves applies here as well. However, two 3yr old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but ARALE is taken to lead the field home. She overraced in the middle stages, was bumped at the 800M pole and then came three wide into the home straight, before staying on well to finish second last time out over six furlongs, 2.3L behind the winner, so that effort was encouraging. From draw six, she should be right up there when they hit the line.

MISS TAMBO turned second into the home straight and struck the front at the 350M mark, only to be run out of it late, eventually ending up in third spot last time out over six furlongs, just over four lengths adrift of the victor. She jumps from a wide gate nine, but she should use her early gate speed to work her way across without using up too much energy.

KNIPPENBERG is a 2yr old colt taking on older horses, but he finished third first time out over six furlongs, 1.8L behind the winner, notwithstanding racing wide without cover and being hampered at the 200M mark. He would have come on with that run under his belt and is drawn one outside the latter, but will have ex-SA jockey Keagan Latham in the irons, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

Race 8.

The day’s value bet, TICK TOCK BOOM has consistent formlines to his name and battled all the way down to the wire when finishing second over this trip last time out, beaten just a length. The form of that race has been franked and whilst drawn wide in gate nine, he will be having his peak run after returning from a 17 week absence.

REOFFENDER on the other hand has pulled pole position and followed up his penultimate run victory over 1500M with a second place finish next time out over 1300M, 1.8L back from the winner when returning from a lengthy break. He should keep the top pick honest.

MY SNOW QUEEN is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she slipped at the start last time out over 1300M losing many lengths, but still managed to finish third, 2.3L behind the winner, so that effort was commendable. She has her peak run since returning from a longer 20 week spell and from a useful draw three, she could provide Keagan Latham his second winner in the day’s Jackpot.
