Race 4.

REOFFENDER followed up his penultimate run victory over 1500M with a second place finish last time out over this c&d, 1.7L behind the winner, when returning from a lengthy 40 week break. He finished strongly that day and the form of that race has been franked. From his handy draw three, he looks to be the one to side with here.

TICK TOCK BOOM’S last three outings have produced two thirds and the latest, a second place finish over 1300M, just under a length behind the winner. He made good late progress that day and will be having his peak run after returning from a 17 week rest. He is drawn the widest of them all in gate thirteen, but given his style of racing, he is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the closing stages of the race.

THINK HIGH missed out on his hat-trick after victories over seven furlongs and 1550M to finishing fifth last time out when stepping up to nine furlongs, fourteen and a half lengths adrift of the winner. He has not fared much better with his draw eleven and returns from a 31 week break, but has had two barrier trials, winning the first and finishing third in the latest to showcase his well-being. The gelding should do better here returning to what appears to be a more suitable distance.

Race 5.

The day’s best bet, RITA MAY is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has won two of her last three starts, the latest over five furlongs by 1.7L. She showed plenty of toe that day and then held off the chasing pack in the dash down to the wire. She has her first run since a 19 week spell, but has had the two barrier trials, winning the latest. From draw six, she could prove hard to topple here.

CINQUE TORRI disappointed when finishing eighth last time out over seven furlongs, just under eight and a half lengths behind the winner and was immediately rested. He resumes here after a similar 19 week break and has also had the benefit of two barrier trials, finishing second in the first and winning the latest to prove his fitness. He gets a wide gate nine, but the shorter trip should be to his liking.

EUPHRATES DREAM is another 3yr old filly in the race and although recorded as finishing sixth last time out over five furlongs, she was just 2.3L behind the winner. She was returning from a longer 24 week absence that day and from her kinder draw three and with ex-SA jockey Keagan Latham in the irons, she will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

Race 6.

MAGIC TALENT is a 5yr old mare taking on males, but she showed marked improvement to win her last start over five furlongs by three and a half lengths. She hit the front at the 100M mark that day and the race was over as a contest at that point. She gets a handy draw four and is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

TULLA PARK was slow away and had to be eased at the 300M pole before finding a strong finish to end up in fourth place last time out over five furlongs, 2.2L off the winner. He was returning from a 13 week rest that day and from pole position, the gelding should be right up there when they hit the line.

CHARLEMAGNE followed up his penultimate run victory over this c&d with a nineth spot finish next time out when stepping up to six furlongs, six lengths adrift of the winner, but the form of that race has been franked. He gets gate five and will have 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice to aid his cause. The drop back in trip should also play in his favor.

Race 7.

WUDDACUDDASHUDDA finished seventh last time out over five furlongs, five lengths behind the winner when returning from a 25 week break, but he jumped badly and then only saw daylight at the 250M mark before finishing off his race well, this after hanging out on the home turn. He will have to negotiate draw eleven, but the gelding could provide Keagan Latham with his second winner in today’s Jackpot.

MITTATA has finished second in two of his last three outings, the latest over six furlongs, just under a half length behind the winner. He raced towards the back of the field that day before delivering a powerful finish and from a wide gate sixteen, he is likely to adopt similar tactics here.

SQUEEZE is a 3yr old filly taking on boys and is the stable companion to the top choice. She overraced early and then came three wide approaching the home turn, before making good late progress to end up in second place last time out over a mile. She returns from a 22 week break, but has had the two barrier trials to showcase her well-being makes a solid back-up for the yard.
