Race 5

Two 3yr old and a 4yr old filly could fight out the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but EAU DE VIE is taken to lead the field home. She won over a mile three runs back, finished sixth in her penultimate start over ten furlongs and then stayed on well to take third place in her latest outing over 1300M, just one length behind the winner. On that last effort, the extra ground on offer here should be to her liking and from gate six, she could be hard to topple.

COMMANDMENT was hampered at the start and then did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight when ending up in second place last time out over a mile, just under a half lengths behind the winner. She gets a handy draw two and will have 1.5kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.

RESISTIBLE had her consistency rewarded with a 1.3L victory last time out over seven furlongs. She raced just behind the leaders that day and then accelerated smartly to run down the leaders over the closing stages. She has a useful draw four and will have ex-SA jockey Keagan Latham in the irons, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

Race 6

KING OF THE CASTLE has cracked pole position and followed up his penultimate run victory over seven furlongs with a ninth-place finish next time out over 1500M, three and a half lengths back from the winner. He found himself second last turning for home that day and was forced to come the widest into the home straight, but he made good late progress over the latter stages, As such, he is made the best bet on the day’s card.

BALTIC COAST also won his penultimate start, but in his case over a mile and then finished third over the same journey next time out, 6.8L adrift of the victor. The gelding stayed on well on that occasion and from gate five and with him having 1.5kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice, he could prove to be the top picks biggest threat.

MEDIARO had solid form prior to finishing seventh in his latest outing over 1900M, 9.7L off the winner, but he had to be steadied off the heels of another runner at the 1500M mark when overracing and then came four wide into the home stretch. The gelding has drawn seven and should be involved in the finish.

Race 7

SELOUS sat just behind the leaders and struck the front at the 100M mark to win by 1.3L going away from the opposition last time out over 1300M. He has pulled gate six and may well be good enough to chalk up a quick double.

STEP ASIDE won his penultimate start over seven furlongs and then battled all the way down to the wire when finishing second next time out over the same trip, just a half-length behind the winner. He has his peak run after returning from a 16-week rest and is sure to put his pole position to good use.
POWERFUL PEG is a 3yr old filly taking on boys, but she had finished second in her two runs prior to ending up in the winner’s box last time out over 1300m, albeit just a short-head victor. She returns from a 14-week break but has had the two barrier trials, finishing fourth in the first and second in the latest. She faces a wide draw eleven, but on the plus ide she will have 1.5kgs taken off her back for the services of her claiming apprentice.

Race 8

Two 3yr old and a 4yr old filly could dominate the finish to this race and secure the trifecta, but the day’s value bet, CONSENZA could be the one to side with. She goes for her hat-trick after victories over 1100M and the latest over six furlongs by a head. She stayed on well that day and will be having her peak run after returning from a 20-week spell and whilst having to negotiate draw ten, she should be doing her best work late to give Jason Collett and double in the day’s Jackpot, should the top choice win the opening leg.

WAIKIKI won her maiden race last time out over 1100M by just under a half-length at the fourth time of asking. She takes on stronger here, but has gate six and could well be up to the task at hand.

SUPER BRIGHT jumped awkwardly when finishing seventh last time out over six furlongs just over four and a half lengths behind the winner. She was returning from an 11-week rest that day and would have come on further with that run under her belt. From a cosy draw three and with having 1.5kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice, she should be included in all bets.
