Race 5.

SUR LA MER hit the front at the 150M mark before putting 3.2L between herself and the opposition when winning her last start over 1300M at this track. She gets a handy draw five and top jockey Hugh Bowman retains the ride. With her having her peak run after returning from a 16 week rest, she looks hard to oppose and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

IRISH KISSES had her consistency rewarded with a 0.8L victory last time out over 1300M. She went from jump to wire that day and from an even better draw two, she is likely to adopt similar tactics here and could prove difficult to reel in over the closing stages.

THINK FREE is seldom far off the action finishing second over 1550M in her latest outing, 3.3L back from the winner. She races just behind the leaders in that contest and battled all the way down to the wire, but just found one too good for her on the day. From gate three, she should be involved in the finish here.

Race 6.

DARALINA BELLE is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she showed marked improvement to finish third last time out over 1100M, just under half a length behind the winner. She made good late progress that day and if she is able to confirm that effort, she should be right up there when they hit the line, despite facing a wide gate nine.

Although DEHORNED UNICORN is recorded as finishing seventh in his last start over six furlongs, he was just 3.2L off the winner. He tried to go from gun to tape that day, but shifted out over the closing stages, costing himself valuable ground. He has his peak run after returning from a 23 week break and jumps from draw two. If he is able to keep to a straight path in the home straight, he should be a big running in this line-up.

STEEL DIAMOND is a 5yr old mare who stayed on well to finish fourth last time out over seven furlongs, 4.3L adrift of the victor and the form of that race has worked out well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. She is drawn the widest of them all in gate ten, but she is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the closing stages of the race.

Race 7.

The day’s value bet, DEEP ROMANCE is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she put her disappointing penultimate run firmly behind her when second last time out over 1100M, 0.8L behind the winner. She was bumped at the start and then only saw daylight at the 250M mark before finishing off her race well. That effort would suggest that she should enjoy the extra ground on offer here. From draw three, she will be looking for her second career victory here.

HUESCA has only had the three runs to date, winning on debut and then finishing fourth last time out over six furlongs, 2.3L behind the winner when returning from a 38 week absence. He is another who did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight and with better luck in running today, be should keep the top pick honest. The colt is sure to put his pole position to good use.

HUON has also had just the three runs, finishing third, second and then winning his latest outing over six furlongs by two lengths. He led from start to finish that day, kicking clear of the opposition at the 200M pole and then holding off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. He is drawn wide in gate twelve, but he should use that early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

Race 8.

MOBSTAR is a two time winner from five starts, having also finished second and third in the others. He was a just over one length winner of his last start over 1350M, notwithstanding coming the widest of them all into the home straight. He struck the front at the 150M mark to win easing down close to home. The gelding gets a cozy draw three and will be having his peak run after returning from a 25 week spell.

TRAVEST jumped awkwardly and then had to be eased at the 1000M pole, but stayed on well to end up in sixth place last time out over 1300M, 5.2L off the winner. He jumps from a wideish gate eight, but on the plus side, he will get 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

BRIMSTONE on the other hand has cracked pole position. He had to be checked at the 250M mark last time out when finishing second over 1250M, 2.8L back from the winner and also came six wide into the home stretch that day. He finished his race off well however and should be included in all bets.
