Race 6

LUNARTIE hung out in the home straight, but still managed to battle all the way down to the wire when finishing second last time out over 1400M, 3.8L behind the winner. He faces a wide draw nine, but he is nevertheless taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

TARTANA is a 4-year-old filly taking on the boys, but she had her consistency rewarded with a 0.8L victory last time out over 1200M, despite hanging out and coming three wide into the home straight. She struck the front at the 180M mark that day and then held off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. The filly was returning from a 25-week break on that occasion and whilst drawn one outside the top pick, she should be right up there when they hit the line.

CALL ME TERRY was slow away, but won his maiden race last time out over 1280M, albeit by just a head. That was only his second start and the form of that race has been franked. The gelding jumps from a wideish gate eight, but may well be good enough to chalk up a quick double.

Race 7

Two 4-year-old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but AHOY is taken to lead the field home. She has consistent formlines to her name and followed up her penultimate run victory over 1200M with a second place finish next time out over 1500M, 2.3L back from the winner, but she did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight that day, having to weave her way through traffic and only seeing daylight at the 200M mark, before finishing off her race well. She is drawn in gate six and will be having her peak run for her new trainer and returning from a 38-week break.

THE YOUNG YEARS won over 1200M three runs back, finished third in her penultimate start over the same sprint trip and then stayed on well to end up in fourth spot in her latest outing over 1300M, 1.3L behind the winner. The filly will have to negotiate a wideish gate eight, but she should have no issue with the step up in trip.

MAJOR MAKEOVER was slow away and came the widest of them all into the home straight, but finished well from some way back to grab fourth place last time out over 1400M, just under a length back from the victor. The gelding has a wider draw eleven, but he should be doing his best work late.

Race 8

The day’s best bet, REGGIE’S BOY followed up his penultimate run victory over 1280M with a third-place finish next time out over 1350M, just over a half lengths back from the winner, but he was bumped at the star in that event. He recovered quickly though to pick up the lead, only to be grabbed late and the form of that race has been franked. The gelding has a handy draw two and will have 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

OLIVIA’S SPIRIT also won his penultimate start, but in his case over 1100M and then ended up in eighth place next time out over the same trip, 6.7L adrift of the victor, but that was at a stronger centre, and he stayed on well that day, suggesting that he should appreciate the extra ground on offer here. The gelding has pulled a wide gate ten, but will be having his peak run after returning from a 20-week rest and could emerge as the biggest threat to the top pick.

DEEL STREET is a 6-year-old mare taking on males, but she has finished third in two of her last three outings, the latest over 1300M, just a head off the winner. She delivered a powerful finish from second last entering the home stretch that day and from her useful draw four and with 3kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice, she should be involved in the finish.

Race 9

COURAGEOUS QUEEN is a 4-year-old filly taking on boys, but she is seldom far off the action, finishing second last time out over 1000M, just under a length back from the winner, this after trying to go from jump to wire. From her wideish draw seven, she is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today and could prove difficult to reel in over the latter stages.

SUPER FREDS is another consistent sort who made good late progress to finish third in his latest outing over 1000M, a length and a half behind the winner. The gelding has pulled gate five and he should keep the former honest.

GERETY is a 3-year-old filly who won her penultimate start over 1200M and then jumped awkwardly, but stayed on well to finish fifth next time out over the same c&d, three and a half lengths back from the victor. She returns from a 19-week absence, but has had two barrier trials, finishing third in the first and second in the latest. From a cosy draw three, she should be included in all bets.
