Race 4

LANG PARK finished well to end up in second place last time out over 1200M, two and a half lengths behind the winner and the form of that race has stood up well with three runners out of that contest subsequently winning. He gets a handy draw three and has his first run for his new trainer. If fully settled into his new surroundings, he should give a good account of himself here.

MR MOPPETT followed up his penultimate run victory over 1000M with a ninth-place finish next time out over the same sprint trip, 7.2L back from the winner, but that was at a stronger centre. He on the other hand will have to negotiate a wide draw ten, but he will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways today.

LIPSTICK SWING is a 5-year-old mare taking on the boys, but she showed plenty of toe when finishing eleventh last time out over 1200M, ten lengths adrift of the winner. She is a four-time winner over 1000M and despite being drawn one inside the latter, she is sure to enjoy the drop in trip and should be included in all bets.

Race 5

ADOLPHUS has only had the four runs to date and goes for his hat-trick after victories over 1400M and the latest over 1600M by two lengths. He struck the front at the 200M mark that day and although racing green down the home straight, recorded a comfortable win. The gelding still appears to be on the way up and from draw six, he could prove hard to topple and as such, is made the best bet on the day’s card.

FIFI BLUE is a 4-year-old filly taking on males, but she has finished second in three of her last four starts, and raced three wide throughout before finishing powerfully to just fail to overhaul the winner in the shadow of the post for a narrow head defeat. She has pulled a wideish draw eight, but she should be doing her best work late and could emerge as the biggest threat to the top pick.

ONEFORIAN had his consistency rewarded with a two victory last time out over 1700M. He raced three wide without cover that day, but hit the line hard to win going away. The gelding faces a wide gate twelve, but nevertheless, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 6

The day’s value bet, SAINT LOFT has consistent formlines to his name and travelled three wide without cover, but made good late progress to finish fifth in his latest outing over 1400M, just a length back from the winner. He has pulled a useful draw four and should turn in another honest performance here.

JAZ TYCOON had solid form prior to being a tad disappointing when finishing seventh last time out over 1600M, 8.7L adrift of the victor, but his jockey reported that he did not enjoy the firm going that day, so that effort is best ignored. The gelding has his first run for his new trainer and returns from a 34-week spell, but has finished second in his only barrier trial to showcase his well-being. From gate six, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

TYCOON ARTIE sat just behind the pace and battled on courageously to win his maiden race last time out over 1200M by one and a half lengths at the fourth time of asking. He faces stronger here and is drawn the widest of them all in gate eighteen, but he has his peak run after returning from a 21-week break and he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

Race 7

This looks to be a tricky race with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. The tentative top choice goes to MAGMETRIC who raced three wide without cover to end up in eighth place last time out over 1100M, just under five and a half lengths behind the winner, so he had his excuse. He returns from a 17-week rest, but did win his only barrier trial to prove his fitness.

The gelding will have to deal with a wide gate nine, but he could be the one that they all have to beat. YOU WISH is a 3-year-old filly taking on boys, but she has finished second in two of her last three runs, the latest over 1200M, just under a half-length off the winner, when trying to go from jump to wire. She faces a wide draw twelve, but on the plus side she will have 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice and she is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today.

HURRICANE ABLOWING on the other hand, has cracked pole position and was returning from an 11-week rest when running on well from some way back to finish fourth last time out over 1000M, just under two and a half lengths behind the winner. He would have come on further with that run under his belt and should not be easily overlooked.
