Race 4

IMPERIONESS is a 5yr old mare taking on the boys, but she showed marked improvement when, although recorded as finishing seventh last time out over six furlongs, she was just under a length behind the winner. She was returning from a 20 week break that day and having her first run for her new trainer. She raced just behind the leaders before battling all the way down to the wire. From her handy draw four, she is made the value bet on the day’s card.

DUBLINER BOY finished sixth last time out over six furlongs, 4.3L back from the winner, but he stayed on well in that event, suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to his liking. Whilst drawn wide in gate ten, he should be doing his best work late.

SPIRIT OF VOMO was hampered at the 600M mark when finishing fifth last time out over six furlongs, 5.2L off the winner. The gelding has his peak run after returning from a 23 week spell and will have cheek pieces fitted for the first time. If this has the desired effect and from a kinder gate five, he should make his presence felt.

Race 5

Two 6yr old mares could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but OUR GIRL EVE is taken to lead the field home. She had her consistency rewarded with a neck victory last time out over ten furlongs, despite jumping awkwardly bumping another runner, being eased at the 800M mark, before striking the front at the front at the 200M and holding on courageously in the dash down to the wire. She faces a wide draw nine, but on the plus side will get 1.5kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.

CROATIAN MADAME showed solid improvement to win her latest outing over 1750M, albeit by just a short-head. She had to be held up at the top of the home straight in that event and then had to weave her way through traffic to get up in the shadow of the post. The form of that race has been franked and from a useful draw four and with 4kgs being removed from her allocated weight thanks to her claiming apprentice, she should be right up there when they hit the line.

MR SCOREFIELD chased the leader early in the race which took its toll when ending up in third place last time out over a mile, just under three and a half lengths off the winner. The gelding gets an even better gate two and should be included in all bets.

Race 6

JUST IN REACH complete his quartet of victories when winning his last start over 950M by 0.7L, notwithstanding losing a length at the start. He struck the front at the 200M mark and then held off the chasing pack in the dash down to the wire. The gelding was returning from a 36 week spell that day and jumping from a cozy draw four, he could prove hard to topple.

SEGUSO kicked clear of the opposition at the entrance to the home stretch and then battled all the way down to the wire to win his latest outing over six furlongs by a short-head, when returning from a 22 week absence. He will have to deal with a wideish draw eight, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

OUR BOY OLLIE has cracked pole position and has won two of his last four starts, the latest over five furlongs by just over a half length. He raced wide throughout that day and turn the widest of them all into the home straight and then hung in all the way down the home stretch, so he had his excuses. The gelding was returning from a 12 week rest on that occasion and will get the services of a 2kg claiming apprentice.

Race 7

The day’s best bet, DOLLAR MAGIC is a 5yr old mare taking on males, but she is a three time winner from just ten starts and has won two of her last four recent starts and finished second in the other two. She showed plenty of toe and was only grabbed late when finishing second last time out over six furlongs, just under a half lengths behind the winner. She returns from an 18 week break, but has finished second in her only barrier trial. From draw four and with her having 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice, the drop in trip is sure to be to her liking.

OUTBACK RINGER has consistent formlines to her name and followed up her penultimate run victory over five furlongs with a second place finish over the same trip next time out, just a neck behind the winner. She did hang out approaching the home turn that day, but stayed on stoutly over the latter stages. The gelding is drawn the widest of them all in gate ten, but he will have 2kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice.

DIMENSION is the stable companion to the latter. He overraced in the early and middle stages and not unsurprising had nothing to offer in the home straight, to end up in eighth spot last time out over a mile, just over five and a half lengths adrift of the victor and was immediately rested for 20 weeks. He returns here after having had the benefit of two barrier trials and from a kinder gate six, he should be involved in the finish and makes a solid back-up for the yard.
