Race 6

TWILIGHT ROCK has cracked pole position and has consistent formlines to his name, chasing hard, only to fail in the shadow of the post to finish second last time out over five furlongs, just a short-head behind the winner.

Two 3-year-old fillies could chase him home, with the slight preference going to YAMBA’S GIRL who raced just behind the leaders and finished best to win by 0.8L when making her debut over 1250M. She would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, she could complete a quick double, jumping from gate six.

LITTLE BIT FLASH won over 1100M three runs back, finished fifth in her penultimate start over the same sprint trip and then fifth again in her latest outing over 1100M, four lengths behind the winner, this after racing wide without cover that day, but still managing to battle all the way down to the wire. The filly is drawn wide in gate nineteen, but she has her peak run after returning from a 24-week break and she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

Race 7

The day’s value bet, OLIVIA’S SPIRIT shifted out at the start bumping another runner and then raced four wide throughout, but still finished strongly from some way back to end up in third place last time out over 1280M, 1.7L back from the winner. The gelding has a handy draw two and looks to be the one to side with here.

OAKFIELD BADGER had won three on the trot prior to finishing tenth in his latest outing over 1200M, 9.3L adrift of the victor, but that was in very heavy conditions and at a stronger centre. He on the other hand faces a wide gate eleven, but he has his peak run after returning from a 19-week rest and will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways.

REGGIE’S BOY has won two of his last three starts and raced just behind the frontrunners before kicking clear of the opposition to win a head last time out over 1280M. The gelding faces an even wider draw thirteen, but on the plus side will have 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

Race 8

This looks to be a tricky race with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. WHERE’S THE FIRE found a powerful finish to end up in third spot last time out over 1000M, just a half-length behind the victor. He will have to negotiate a wide draw eleven, but he should be doing his best work late.

CUPID’S KISS is a 5-year-old mare taking on the boys, but she delivered a flying finish to record a well-timed win last time out over 1000M, albeit by just a head. She is drawn wideish in gate eight, but she is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the latter part of the race.

ANOTHER BALCONYBOY stayed on well to finish sixth last time out over 1000M, just under four lengths off the winner. He is drawn one inside the latter and will have 2kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice to aid his cause.

Race 9

OCTOBER REVOLUTION followed up his penultimate run victory over 1000M with a seventh-place finish next time out when stepping up to 1100M, 5.8L back from the winner. The gelding drops to what appears to be a more suitable trip and is sure to put his pole position to good use. As such, he is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

TOOMUCHINFORMATION is seldom far off the action and raced three wide without cover throughout, but battled all the way down to the line when finishing fourth in his latest outing over 1000M, 2.3L behind the winner. From his useful gate four and with 3kgs taken off his back for the services of his claiming apprentice, he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice.

SNOWDROP is a 5-year-old mare taking on males, but she has finished second in four of her last five starts and did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight last time out over 1000M, finishing just a head behind the winner. With better luck in running from a wide gate twelve, she should be involved in the finish.
