Race 4

BYRON’S FARM has only had the three runs to date, finishing third on debut over 1100M and then a disappointing ninth in his penultimate start over six furlongs, followed by a respectable second last time out over five furlongs, beaten just a half-length. He showed plenty of toe that day and was only run out of it late. The objection lodged by his connections against the winner was however overruled and the original result was allowed to stand. The gelding has a wideish draw eight but will be hoping to make amends here.

BRUMMAGEN is the stable companion of the top choice and finished third first time out over five furlongs and then fourth next time out over the same c&d, 1.8L behind the winner, but he overrace throughout in that event, before staying on well over the closing stages. From his handy draw two, he makes a solid back-up for the yard.

SPECIAL PROPHET finished third on debut over 1100M, beaten just a head. He would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected from gate five, he should be included in all bets.

Race 5

A 3-year-old and a 4-year-old filly could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but MISS SCOOP is taken to lead the field home. She showed plenty of pace to put three lengths between herself and the opposition to win over 1100M on debut. She does face a wide draw twelve, but she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

SINGLE ATTRACTION won over six furlongs three runs back and then finished second twice, the first over six furlongs and the latest over five furlongs, 0.8L behind the winner, but she had to weave her way down the home straight in that event, so that effort was commendable. She will have to negotiate a wide draw nine, but nevertheless, she should be right up there when they hit the line.

CASSIMIR has cracked pole position and raced just behind the leaders, but did not quite go on with his effort over the latter stages, to end up in seventh place in his latest outing over 1175M, just under four and a half lengths back from the victor, suggesting the drop in distance will be to his liking. The gelding has his peak run after returning from a 24 week break and will have 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

Race 6

The day’s value bet, AUSSIE PHAROAH went from jump to wire to win his last start over 1550M by 4.3L, despite hanging out approaching the home turn and the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. He is sure to put his pole position to good use and is likely to attempt similar front-running tactics today.

ZABELLSARERINGING has finished second in his last three runs, the latest over a mile, 2.3L off the winner. The gelding raced three wide without cover in that event, but struck the front at the 200M pole, only to be snared late. He jumps from one gate outside the top pick and will be hoping to go one better today.

CHAOTIC BEAUTY is a 5-year-old mare taking on the boys, but she had her consistency rewarded with a 2.3L victory last time out over a mile. She kicked clear of the field at the 100M mark to win going away and whilst facing a wide draw nine, she will have 2kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice and she should be doing her best work late.

Race 7

GUTSY had won his last three runs for his new trainer prior to finishing third last time out over six furlongs, just over a half-length behind the winner, but the form of that race has been franked. The gelding raced just behind the leaders in that contest, before battling all the way down to the wire. He has pulled a wideish gate eight, but on the plus side, he will get 1.5kgs taken off his back for the services of his claiming apprentice. He will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways here and is made the best bet on the day’s card.

THAT’S BETTER on the other hand has cracked pole position and his last four runs have yielded two wins and two second-place finishes, the latest over 1100M, beaten just 0.8L. He raced wide throughout in that event, but still managed to find a powerful finish. The gelding gets a 1.5kg claiming apprentice in the irons and could emerge as the biggest threat to the top choice.

BELLA ACE is a 4-year-old filly taking on males and tried to go from gun to tape when finishing seventh last time out over 900M when returning from a 19-week spell. She has a useful gate three and should be involved in the finish.
